Using xplane HIL without your radio?

I have been messing around with this, but unless i connect a my radio to the APM board it will never send any readings to Xplane?

Does anyone know if this is possible?

I can get the setup into this state, but then I just hit "Sim Link Start/Stop" two times, and it comes good.

This with power to my receiver pulled. (and radio off).

Then I can give commands.

Contests

Season Two of the Trust Time Trial (T3) Contest has now begun. The fourth round is an accuracy round for multicopters, which requires contestants to fly a cube. The deadline is April 14th.
