Hello,
Optical Mouse based optical flow sensor is great idea. But wondering if there is an interest for a small vision module with dedicated powerful processor for optical flow, attitude hold and any other vision algorithms?
I am working a low cost vision module using the STM32F4 micro controller. It is 32 bit ARM Cortex M4, with floating point unit, 168MHz, 198KB ram and camera interface peripheral. My initial plan was to target color tracking and line following applications for ground based robots. But I guess this module could be useful up in the air as well.
I have put together by thoughts in couple of slides. Here is initial schematics, I am almost done with schematics. Do let me know if some feature would be nice for UAV's.
Is this project of any interest to you guys?
Would addition of any particular feature make it more useful? I have no clue about requirements for optical flow applications, so hoping to get some input.
Thanks in advance.
