Walkera Goggle-2 - why no support from walkera?

Hi, I guess I am not the only one to have been seduced by the new Walkera Goggle-2 FPV goggles to find out that the head tracking system is not compatible with their flagship TX, the DEVO F12E.

All their advertising shows the Goggles being used with the TALI H500 and DEVO F12E TX (http://www.walkera.com/en/showgoods.php?id=2760) and yet no word of warning that head tracking will not work.  I have tried contacting Walkera, but I guess most of you already know how that panned out!

So my simple question is..."can you re-assign the training channels in the DEVO F12E TX to match the Goggle-2 settings for channels 5,6 & 7?  I have heard that APM is incredibly flexible and potentially there are APM Gurus out there that may be able to help.

Here's hoping :-)

  • Hi, I have not seen any way to re-assign the training channels!

I have the X350 Pro with F12E Tx, but I believe that the setup is equal to the Tali.
I moved the gimbal Pitch lever AUX6 KB (the right one) to channel 6 (AUX1) in the Tx and inactivated
    AUX6 according to below.

Ch Rx port Tx Switch/lever Function
5 Gear MIX SW Flight mode (connected to Main Controller via Rx Data Bus)
6 AUX1 (Flap) AUX6 KB Gimbal pitch (connect directly to receiver)
7 AUX2 ELEV D/R Hyper IOC (connected to Main Controller via Rx Data Bus)
8 AUX3 FMOD SW Circle flight (connected to Main Controller via Rx Data Bus)
9 AUX4 GEAR SW Not used
10 AUX5 AUX5 KB Gimbal Roll (connected directly to receiver)
11 AUX6 GEAR SW Not used
12 AUX7 AILE D/R Camera controller (connected directly to receiver)

I then physically moved the pitch-connector from AUX6 to AUX1 in the receiver.

With this setup I can still control Pitch with the right lever and roll with the left.
Recording on/off and taking a picture with AILE D/R switch also works.
I lose the "one key to take off", but I can live with that :)
I still have no goggles, so I can't verify that it will work, but it should...

You don't need to let the goggles control Roll, as it is controlled by the gimbal.

If you still want to do that, yoy must re-assign lever AUX7 KB from channel

12 to AUX 3 (channel 7) in the same manner.

The Pan I don't know about, as I have the G-2D, but it could be tricky. Then You must
re-assign the Mix switch to another switch with three positions.

    • Hmmm... I'm not sure of the last. I dunno if the function is programmed to the switch or the channel. Maybe you can just move the MIX switch to another channel? E.g. AUX4 or AUX 6...?
