what 3dr telemetry kit for boat used in the ocean

I am planning on building a UAV boat to go through waypoints using the APM 2.0. Which frequency should i get for using a ground station on the beach and having the boat go in the ocean, 433MHz or 915MHz. Does anyone know if I can do this or what kind of range since it will be over the water and not in the air?

Use the freq that is legal in your area. In general, for the same power, the lower freq will have a longer range.

Thanks, I guess I only have the option of 915MHz in the USA. With a 4 foot antenna do you think I would have a decent range?

And for your purposes, the taller the antenna the better.
