Sometimes I need to adapt something for a camera mount or add something to my 3DR frame. Amazon has a lot of materials available but I'm not sure what would be good for this type of application. I would like the same material that is used in the 3DR frame (black fiberglass?) but haven't been able to find it at a good price.

Anyone have some suggestions on a good material that would work for spare parts?

Hello,

I had much the same frame of mind Fiberglass will work but the cost  people are charging you might as well use carbon fiber or carbon fiber & Kevlar some real nice stuff out there http://dragonplate.com/ecart/categories.asp?cID=91

some really cool stuff is out there http://www.protechcomposites.com/categories/Carbon-Fiber-Sheets-%25...   I even seen a Kevlar & barracuda weave so nice the red & silver . carbon fiber with patterns

Wow!!! I like the frame except it seems the arms would cause a lot of thrust blockage being so wide. Maybe better to put a little cone or curved thing on top to be more aerodynamic. I think those links are just what I was looking for. Thanks!!

No problem I am not worried it a coaxial & is less weighty looks like the star ship Y6 I am happy

These look good but seem too thin.

I'm thinking I need something about 1mm thick. What did you use for that center triangle plate on yours? Is that carbon fiber?

No you do not it's carbon fiber I got me 1mm thick mat plate. I think it is too thick. because i got .25 mm sheet form hobby king a while back i made a cam mount with it & it worked out better than expected fits a DSL
