What is the best configuration in your opinion?

Hi guys and gals, this is my first post. I  currently have a phantom 3 pro and I fly it daily. I am interested in drones but being honest I'm not very skilled with the tech.

I would like to build a drone with a very long flight time and be able to carry a pair of digital slrs.

I am wanting to use it in rural Africa to film. I would like to fly it through waypoints and drive to another location out of the drones range then turn on my controller and take back control when its close enough.  My specs are below is this even possible?

Range = 100 miles

Flight time = 4 hours

Additional payload = 1KG

10 mile transmitter that can engage when aircraft is in range to allow me to take control with pov and land.

The ability to check aircraft's location via satellite at any time in any location, airspeed, altitude and so on.

I know this is tough if it is even possible I know it would almost certainly have to be fixed wing using something like Dragon link.

So what would be your thoughts.

  • thanks for that, sorry about the late reply, I have been working pretty hard lately. eventually found time to reply.  You have been pretty helpful James. :)  Respect.

  • I really like the look of the wing. It seems to carry a good payload for its price. It could also be packed with batteries which I guess will extend its running time a fair bit.

    Does anybody know if ardue pilot can run on its own then when in range of the remote be stood down and manual control be taken?

  • Thanks for your reply. The 1 1kg was the total weight of both dslrs  along with their batteries. You have given me plenty to look at although I don't want to go down the route of gas power so I might have to reduce flight time accordingly. Can  it be configured to allow auto flight while out of range then when in range be flown via remote? Th I is the main thing I would need. I may be able to reduce to one camera to reduce the weight to 500g
