This has been the worst experience I have ever had trying to buy something. I ordered an ArduCopter and you guys send me an email wanting a picture of my credit card or a screen cap of my bank account. What king of crap is that? So I reply to the email saying just cancel and I'll reorder using paypal but the email was rejected (see below). So I call the number and ask him to cancel the order to free up the pending transaction so I can re-order and it's still pending. Jeesh you guys what's up with all the hassle? A picture of my card? A screen cap of my account? If I were a thief I could easily fake that up with Photoshop.

Please just cancel my order as well as my membership in this board.

Scott, sorry to hear about that. Let me find out what's going on with that request, which is not normal.

As for the site being down, that's due to the GoDaddy DNS failure of this afternoon. Half the internet is down at the moment :-(

Set OpenDNS (208.67.222.222) as your primary or secondary DNS server in the network configuration panel and web sites should start working again.

Thanks John, It seems to be working now. But to honest the real issue for me was why all the extra info was needed in the first place.

Thanks Chris.

My email seems to be going through now. And my cancel request has seemingly made it.

I can understand internet issues but I still don't understand all the hassle with using a credit card. I've never had this kind of trouble before. What seems to be making things even more complected is that I used a Paypal debit card. So the problem I have at the moment is that I don't have access to the funds that have been previously pre-authorized until the existing order is either completed or canceled. And as far as I can tell neither has happened.

I am now in limbo.

Credit cards are MAJOR security concern within the on-line community.

As the financial world pushes for increased security measures involving physical changes to your plastic, such as embedded chips and RIFID, etc., in combination with other measures to conform with PCI DSS minimums, the over-the-phone and on-line use of a personal credit card will grind to a halt.

We are only hosting our domains on GoDaddy. Email is hosted on Google Gmail (so we are using the most fancy, expensive email hosting available). We have a dedicated server on Volusion for the store.

Scott Gardner I'm sorry for asking you for this information is for security (We have a lot of fraud). We are talking about more than twenty thousand dollars in cost for us every year. Those credit card cloners are in love with APM2.5...

Our new custom made store (that's under development) will feature a better user experience.

There's anything I can do for you?

Actually there is. If you could release the previous pre-authorization that is currently holding my funds, I'll re- order. I forwarded the email that PayPal sent to me to your sales dept.

Scott,

I do believe that we don't have control over pre-authorization, it usually takes a few days to clear out (depends on the bank). But I will double check with my team in case I'm confusing the terms. :S

Thank you!

Jordi,

Why would you doubt what I am saying? Did you even check with the sales dept? This has already been a nightmare as it is so please don't add insult to injury and please don't offer to help if you don't intend to. Here is part of what Paypal sent me that I forwarded to your sales dept:

If the merchant faxes over the following information we can look into releasing that authorization once the fax has arrived.

The merchant must include the following information on the fax:

  • The customer's name.
  • PayPal Debit MasterCard® number.
  • The amount of the charge.
  • Date of authorization attempt.
  • Authorization number if possible.
  • Name of the person (merchant) requesting the hold to be lifted.

The fax will need to be sent in on the merchant's letterhead to:

What I find absolutely incredible even unbelievable is that you guys still have control over my funds and you have been trying to tell me this is because you are getting ripped off. Well I it feels like I'm being ripped off right now. I don't think this is any way to treat a customer that just wanted to buy one of your products. And to be honest, as soon as another option becomes available for purchasing this stuff I'm going with that.

Scott,

Sorry but you really need to check your facts before you blow some story like this all over the front page. Grow up dude. seriously. Nobody is ripping you off. They asked you for more info because for whatever reason you caused some red flags with your order. This happens and is caused by your bank, not the store.

Next, read the policies dude! Seriously, both the card and the store's. You cannot blame a person when you are just being stupid and violating policy. You actually had to agree to this when you placed the order.

What I find absolutely incredible even unbelievable is that you guys still have control over my funds and you have been trying to tell me this is because you are getting ripped off.

Again, no dude, read the damn policies. Even if they wanted to, they have NO CONTROL. You put yourself into a position using a shady company (Paypal) and trust me, they are not your pal. 3DR has nothing to do with this.

Terms and Conditions

Please read the entire agreement, you can always contact us if you have any questions. By using and ordering from this website you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use this site. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to contact us. Thanks for your patience!

Payment Terms

We accept credit card, PayPal and T/T Wire Transfers as payment for orders. For T/T Wire Transfers payments, the order will not ship until the payment is received and 'clears'. For PayPal eCheck, we will not ship until the payment clears. Due to potential fraud and misuse, we may decide not to ship an order, or request additional verification information for credit card or PayPal payments. Credit cards must clear the authorization process.

So Paypal, my favorite company (Note: they are not a bank so no banking laws apply). Never EVER give them money you want to see again.

https://www.paypal-community.com/t5/Sending-and-receiving-money/Ord...

Examples of Paypal separating people and their money. You're barking up the wrong tree.

You can think what you want, but seriously, you agreed to the terms no cancelations at the time of order. They are reasonable people but they do not have your money. Hopefully you learn not to trust Paypal, 3DR is a solid upright business.

Seriously Scott, do you even know who the guys are who answered you? http://diydrones.com/forum/topic/listForContributor?user=jordii

http://diydrones.com/forum/topic/listForContributor?user=zlitezlite

Dood, You don't know the half of what's going on. Where does it say in the policies that they can cancel my order and keep my money? Do you work there? If you do then you better get a grip on what's actually happening and do something about it.

It was starting to look like maybe I had over-reacted and then you show up with your holier than thou attitude. I think you need to know ALL the facts before you even open your mouth. If you've got something helpful to add do it. Otherwise mind your own damn business.

You remember this right? At least they (Jordi and Chris) agreed to cancel the order.

PLEASE!: TRIPLE CHECK everything before placing your order. There are no changes or cancellations after the order is placed. Orders cannot be refunded or returned once they have been placed. Thank you for understanding.
