Iphone and Android App Ground Control Station with Mavlink is in Progress

I have successfully built an API that will work with Ipad/ Iphone and will be able to port it to Android. This app can create missions, follow live mavlink .9 (Still working on 1.0) data with telemetry data. Cool thing is that it is a cheap cable to make. I want to know how many people would be interested in this App and the cable. There will be two versions one for jail broke devices that will have a few extras and for regular IOS and Droid OS. If there enough buzz I will give a lucky few in couple weeks a free beta pass through iTunes to be able to test and use for flight. What the app does is that it send a mavlink message to the xbee or 3d radio back and forth so you be able to fly and track using your tablet or phone.

Definitely Interested. I have a 2.4Ghz Xbee pro telemetry on a 3DR Quad. I have a IPAD1 (Non jailbreaked) and  a Iphone 3GS (Jailbreaked) available for testing.

I'm a iOS developer with a number of apps on the appstore.

The issue with this is that Apple won't allow iOS developers to access Bluetooth serial unless you get into the MFI (Made for iPod) program.  I tried, and got so much red tape I gave up, they wanted lots of rubbish including details of the Bluetooth/serial converter etc which is obviously aimed a hardware manufacturers, even though I just wanted to be able to write apps that would talk over bluetooth/serial for projects just like this.

The way to get around this would be to use WiFi to Serial, as under iOS it is quite easy to communicate over WiFi.

Unfortunately I've go too much work on my plate to help with this project.

The red tape is part of the game with Apple. They tell us programmers to put your mind to the limit, but they limit our actions. I been working with them on being able to access serial without jailbroke devices. I sent a demo design to them for approval MFI with the API that I have build for this project. When the cable passes the app has to be sent to apple and test with the cable design. I have direct connect serial cable and bluetooth. I am going to Cali this weekend to talk about cable production with apple. I don't know what the cost of the final cables are going to be. However, I be able to replicate them after approval so cost will be cheap. So who has jailbroke will be able to test the app for bugs and such with what is offered. Android is much easier.

The 3DR 433MHz radios will arive in my mailbox next week so I'm also ready to beta test on may jailbroken iPad/iPhone :)

Wow $245 is pretty expensive. It is a very good solution for the app that I am creating. However, the cost. The cable solution that I am making sofar without xbee or 3dr radio would cost $50ish and made be less with a production company. Ikoper however, doesn't do mavlink messages.

I think the cable is unnecessary using wifi or Bluetooth is a better solution weird connection sucks!

My test cable you see in the picture is only for power instead of having a external battery. I might be able to running power out of the audio but this is clean power to turn on both radios bluetooth and 900.

i was made one for my ipad1(3.3.2 jailbreak) moths ago, XBEE conect ipad via TTL. I take IPAD outside for adjust ACM quad's PID and a simple google map show quad current location. a lot of good time :) but dont have time to do more. and i found MWC fly better than ACM, then long time no touch my IPAD&ACM :(
