Hi,
I'm using an APM 1.4, with 2 xbee pro in 2,4Ghz mode (i'm in France and 900mhz is not alowed).
Xbee are ok, seems to be... My APM works fine with the USB cable.
But when i try to connect GCS to APM through Xbee, i get a problem :
getparamlist retry 3 (and 2 and 1) sys 1 comp 1
And then i have a line
Not a 1280
And my APMplanner freeze. I have to kill the command window.
Is anybody able to help me with this Please?
Did i miss something?
thanks a lot.
Jean-Luc

I have your exact same problem, but with 900Mhz Xbees. The problems with Xbee's that I've had are related with the board (i have an xtream bee, and a red one from sparkfun).
First everything worked out of the box with the xtream bee. After a crash, i had to solder a jumper cable from the DIDO to the DI pin, and everything worked again. After another crash the xtream bee board stopped working properly and started to mess with any xbee that was connected there (took me several hours and two bricked xbee's to find out), so i changed the board to the one from sparkfun but now nothing works.
From time to time I get the same messages you got ("getparamlist retry 3 (and 2 and 1) sys 1 comp 1") but I mainly get timeout messages, and i don't know what to do anymore.
What's even more bothering is that I have two APM's, and with 2.1.0 and another with 2.0.xx (i don't remember right now the exact release) and none of them work. Both xbee's are communicating through XCTU and all the settings are correct.
I will try what Montasser suggests, let me know if you succeed in solving the problem, will do the same.
Permalink Reply by Nicolas Garza on December 26, 2011 at 4:25pm btw, i just checked the voltage of the board and its around 4.7, is this normal? should it be a little higher? i don't think this is the problem, but I'm really not sure

Permalink Reply by Dave C on January 26, 2012 at 1:51am Hi, I have a slightly different problem but related. My xbees where setup when i got them (2.4ghz with apm1.4) They communicate fine, i can get data from them and also to them.
However, in the terminal window I get a constant stream of junk. Initially i just presumed I was looking at the xbee communication, but now I'm not sure. Should it be possible to download logs from the APM using the xbees? If i try i just get a lot of garbage and beeping in the terminal and log windows :/
Permalink Reply by Don Brooks on January 26, 2012 at 8:14am I'm pretty sure xbees don't do log downloads. Xbees are for telemetry and mavlink commands only, they aren't a replacement for the USB cable on the ground, and aren't a 'wifi' connection. Terminal is meant to be used with USB on the ground.
Don is right. Logs are binary and big. They should be downloaded over USB.
Permalink Reply by Mattia Parise on March 14, 2012 at 7:17am Hi to all. I know this is a quite old post but it is the same problem I have. Xbee has been working till yesterday. But the MultiTest works, I can read Serial3 on the SerialPort Monitor. But when I connect through APM Planner it stops at getting param list. What could be the problem?
Permalink Reply by Mattia Parise on March 14, 2012 at 8:36am Sorry for the double Post, but I have to add some information:
I am using the 900mhz kit. Also I noticed that inverting the xbee only one adapter has the RSSI led on. So one XBEE does not receive any data, but can only send. This is a big problem... Can I solve it or do I have to replace my telemetry?
Thanks in advance.
Mattia

Permalink Reply by Mattia Parise on March 19, 2012 at 8:31am Hi Don. I've just done it 3 times. Nothing changes. The MultiSerialMega code works. But if I invert the two xbees, it does not work. The problem is that one xbee cannot transmit or one cannot receive. I think this is the problem...

I have the exact same problem. The parameters load and after that there is nothing but junk on the terminal window and no telemetry data is received.
Were you finally able to solve your problem?

Permalink Reply by Dave C on May 10, 2012 at 12:08pm My solution was only to use the terminal when connected via USB. The xbees are for telemetry data, not uploading code or terminal really. Unless I'm missing something.
