Does anyone have an idea when XBee modules might be available again?
They have been out of stock in the DIY Drones store for a while and Sparkfun says that flooding in Thailand is resulting in long lead times.
Thanks,

I dont exactly know when the supply will be back to normal, but we have managed to secure a bunch of modules from various places. If you are looking for 2.4Ghz we will have a bunch in stock next week at our UK store
However if you are looking for 900mhz, you may want to have a look at mouser, Farrell, etc... I know that mouser have a couple of 900mhz modules still in stock, and their prices are quite reasonable.
Hope that helps,

Hello Pat,
The floods have caused a supply issue here for my store too, the 2.4ghz telemetry kits I sell were out of stock for 25 days :( I had spoken with my suppliers the other day and the latest news was the test equipment has been saved and they were moving to a new / dry factory, however I was told expect delays and poor stock till Christmas :(
I now have enough kits to cover me till then! 5 showing in the store right now, but there are more kits being added next week when I have the XtreamBee's in greater numbers!

Martin

Cheers,

Any further news about the availability of these kits at the DIYDrones store? They've been out of stock for a LONG time!
Permalink Reply by Ian forbes on March 6, 2012 at 10:42am I ordered 900 mhz xbees from digikey, I believe they are in India? so expect a lengthy ship time. I ordered mine just over 2 weeks ago and have yet to get it, and I have emailed looking for tracking number, but they keep sending me an order confirmation and no tracking number. Be ready to wait like the old days:) ... Price was right though...
Still I would rather give 3DR my money, even if it cost a few more dollars for making the technology available to the masses so to speak...
Permalink Reply by Andrew Fernie on March 6, 2012 at 11:12am Very odd that you haven't received them yet. When I order from Digikey by mid-evening the parts arrive the next day, and that is from Minnesota to Montreal. Best delivery of any mail order supplier I have ever dealt with.
Permalink Reply by Ian forbes on March 6, 2012 at 11:15am Really, that bothers me now, I figured India based on the email from support. Odd I will check in with them and see whats going on...
Permalink Reply by Ian forbes on March 6, 2012 at 11:45am Follow up, apparently I ordered my xbees from DIGI not DIGIKEY. HAH! Digi said they wouldn't be available till the end of this month. But the support at Digi says Digikey has them, they transferred me and Digikey who now has my order. They should be here in 3 to 4 days. Digi and digikey both have great customer support! I just didn't notice the ship date issue, since digi was out of stock...
Also, if the price was significantly cheaper you've probably ordered the wrong modules.
The 900 MHz pro modules are around $40 for the wire antenna version and a few $ more for the RPSMA socket version. Pretty much all the vendors (Digikey, Mouser, Sparkfun, 3DR, etc.) have the same price, and I'd be surprised if Digi were undercutting their retailers.

I have some credit with the DIYDrones store so want to use that for Xbees, but they haven't had stock since July 2011. If it's a supply issue I can understand...
