xbee's don't work - ardupilot, diydrones board, xbee pro 900's
I just got the whole setup for ardupilot 2.7, including the xbee pro 900 (one of the wire antennae, and one of the hard antanne (RPMSA) ) along with the diydrones xtreambee adapter boards. I have everything set up according to the diydrones manual but the xbees do not talk to each other. I used the program from digi to set the baud rate and id #. after it did not work, i found a post where the guy said he used version 1002 instead of 1061 and if worked for him, so i did the same and it worked. i unplugged everything and thought i was on my way. i tried it again last night and now they dont talk again. i figured maybed some settings got lost when power was removed, so i re-did everything but still they wont talk. the one with the white wire has one blue and one red light solid, and to flashing amber lights. The xbee connected to my ftdi cable and computer has only a blue light one. the red light and amber lights come on when i reprogram it, but then dont work. when it did work, the lights lit up like the other one.
so then i tried some instructions that talked about setting the xbee so it shows as a 232. that did not make it work either.
I am new to this and am losing patience. does digi take support calls? or does someone know how to get these things working?

The DIY Drones telemetry kit uses Xtreambee adapters in the air and Sparkfun USB adapters on the ground. They work great, but you need to know which position to have the slider on the Xtreambee adapter (it's all set up right ou of the box in the DIYD kit). I presume you've tried both positions...

I have tried both positions, but not after testing them the way they came out of the box, which was both on master. I also followed step by step the telemetry guide; same thing: both on master.
What do you think of trying to power up the line between the laptop and the adapter? I have read that somewhere, but I won't try until I know it safe to do so. I bought a new Toshiba laptop to make this whole system work and I don't want to burn anything... I'm pretty serious about this quad! I have a film background and my idea is to shoot aerial video professionally.

?"Power up" the line between the laptop and the adapter.? I don't even know what you are trying to say. Sounds like a good way to let the magic smoke out.
As for shooting video this way "professionally", you'd better start applying for your permits now, they'll take longer than getting this to fly. These birds are for "personal use only."

Yeah I know. I've read the Instruction given by Canadian Air Traffic Control. There are no personal permits or licenses by the way. You apply for each flight.

SOLVED. I'm ashamed about the solution though.. re install FTDI drivers. Windows was reinstalling another drivers on top, automatically. Thank you Windows 7.
I had tried reinstalling the drivers in the past, but the third time is when it actually worked.
Both adapters keep 'forgetting' their settings after I turn them off, is that normal?
I promise to write back with real problems. Thanks to everyone for helping me.
