Hello

I am testing the arducopter for the first flight and all is well with arming the motors with Dx8 and seemed to be ok.

However all of a sudden in one of the trials three of the motors started beeping as soon as the quad batteries plugged.

One motor after another stopped beeping, few seconds of each other, and all was back to normal.

I disconnected the battery and reconnected same situation, the motors beep, then few seconds apart they stop and motors armed with no difficulty all seem to be ok.

What is going on?

Try lowering your throttle trim and recalibrating everything.

Ok.

Just out of curiosity what caused this, all was working well. Suddenly it appeared beeping as such

It did not work.

I reduced the TRIM on the RC's (Dx8 from 5 to 3) and recalibrated. Is there another way to reduce the trim?

Same problem the motors beep, the motors arm and the beeps continue.

I am hard pressed to believe that this many times one has to calibrate the ESCs!!!!!

I did this again several times and recalibrated again and same result: the motors beep and jolt a bit, the RC arms the motors, only one is working the other three just jolting with the beeps.

I was doing the same thing and it was working, except at higher trim value for Throttle.

Oddly the APM board's LED's i.e. ABC are out for few seconds, when the motors beep, and when they come on and arm the beeps continue.

Most esc's will beep if there is no PPM signal at power up.

I noticed this in the recent build also. Once armed and flown it goes away.

Make sure your ESC's are calibrated to the controller you are using.

I calibrate mine individually with the RC controller.

Hello Sor

If by PPM you meant APM, I agree. There is a difference now I assume after the loading the new code.

The ABC LEDs are not lit for quite a few seconds, and the beeps start.

I can arm as specified and no problems.

One or more of the motors work the rest beep, sometimes they start to work all of a sudden and the beeps start.

I recalibrated with my RC and the problem did not  go away

PPM to me = Pulse positional modulation over a given time constant.

PWM is a point on a sinewave that can be the same as PPM but different.

All of mine beep at arming startup. It flies well.
