Hey fellow pilots or Otto Pilots,

I almost lost my son in July, he was skateboarding hit his head-had a concussion and that night was literally out of his mind. He hid his pain from us because I would have ended his boarding career for not wearing a helmet. That nite he got into my pain meds for my back and not know what he was doing (remember he was in a concussed state) overdosed. He was NEXT to Death, but beat it and has come all the way back to where he started school yesterday.

Any way I have all the gear the autopilot board, the imu board the GPS the sonar a camera. I havent built the quad copter but I have a Rotor 404 quad with the same motor setup.

I have been out of the loop for 8 weeks. I dont know where to START NOW!!! There is SO MUCH Data on this web site I dont know where to go to get info etc tec. I have soldered the IMU board to the autopilot board and hooked up the GPS but I have NO Idea now where to go next. Can someone point me in the right direction? PLEASE. I want to get back to this project and I have lost my way.. I would appreciate any help.

thanks so much.

I have all the little telemetry boards too, man am I lost!

Paul,

We have manuals for every product. What product you have?

Is it the old ArduPilot with the old ArduIMU? If so, the manual is here.

Is it ArduPilotMega for planes? If so, the manual is here.

Or is it ArduPilotMega for copters? If so, the manual is here.

What are we doing wrong with the site design? All these in the tabs above, right on the front page. What should we be doing better to make this easier to find?

Chris, to be honest now that I look at the site, it seems to be more organized than when my vacation to Mammoth ended up in the hospital in Reno. I have not only found some manuals, I have found some videos that werent there before. That were VERY helpful--

I have the ArdupilotMega 1.4. What version is that.

I have another question I have 5 or 6 helocopters and two quadcopters built, one guai 330 and the RotorX 404.

WHat platform would be easier to use? I have the plastic alu quad that I got from you but I havent had time to build it.

But If I was organizing the site and again I havent had time to go over the whole site since I got back from childrens hospital in Los Angeles ( my son was transferred to LA 3 weeks ago and just checked out Sun.  nite to finally come home) I would have pages like you just said.

Helo's? come here to integrate ardupilotmega

Subtopics: Installing all other subsystems to ardupilot (camera's sonars, pitot's etc)

Subtopic: integrating our groundstation software and telemetry hardware

Quad copters? (including manuals building ours) come here to integrate our ardupilotmega

Subtopics Installing all other subsystems to ardupilot (camera's sonars, pitot's etc)

Subtopic: integrating our groundstation software and telemetry hardware

Planes? come here to integrate our ardupilotmega

Subtopics Installing all other subsystems to ardupilot (camera's sonars, pitot's etc)

Subtopic: integrating our groundstation software and telemetry hardware

The subtopics could be linked to the same pages of course.

But without being a RC expert the site WAS hard to navigate I think I remember the helicopter part wasn't even up yet, it said COMING SOON. So this could be a moot point

AGAIN I apologize if it IS organized this way, I just have been running my arse off and I havent had time to see what great improvements you have.

ONE last question. CAN I fly program waypoints with this stuff??

THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR HELP!!!!!

Yes, they all fly waypoints!

Of the platforms you already, have I'd suggest you start with the Guai 330. I've used that and it's fine, if a bit small.

I take your point on the organization. We're going to be releasing a new site design soon that makes the organization clearer:

ArduPilot is the Universal Autopilot hardware (now called ArduPilotMega). You can use it to make any vehicle autonomous with one click by loading different software, which will now go under the following names:
--ArduPlane (fixed wing)
--ArduCopter (helis and multicopters
--ArduRover (wheeled vehicles)
--ArduBoat (boats)

BTW, this post is in the wrong section (you don't have the old legacy hardware; you have the current ArduPilotMega), but I'll leave it here since we've already got a thread going.
Thanks Chris. I have found some more videos that explain more. But I was hoping you would say the rotor X since it has the same prop size and is bigger than the Guai. I think the guai is just too small.

And I was hoping you would have said Helos since I am most comfortable with those. I was hoping to use my TRex 500 for this project. I JUST got a TRex 700 E F3C
I have a TRex 450

I like the Electrics better BUT I have a Freya 90 Xspec and a TZ Frenzy 50

So I need to go to the ArduCopter section?

The ground station is software loaded on to my laptop. Where do I go to see the telemetry setup and wiring. I assume I need to wire the TX/RX to my computer or a USB cable?
RIght now I cant find any info on the telemetry stuff. I have the set from you guys. One mounting board for the electronic ground station and one mounting board for the electronics on the aircraft.

Perhaps Rotor X would be fine; I just don't know what it is and have never used it.

Yes, use the ArduCopter manual. Just start with the Quick Start Guide

The telemetry setup guide is here

Rotor X 404 is like a Guai 330 but it has the 750 KV motor and 10" props instead of the

8" that the guai 330 has. They are coming out with a Rotor X 707 that should be HUGE.

its from minirature aircraft which means its over priced.

Thanks man you have really pointed me in the right direction.

I appreciate it.

Have a good one.
