Took Iris out for some flights yesterday and still flies great.  But the USB port on my GoPro 4 Silver seems to have failed for charging and data transfer... but strangely still worked for Iris+ FPV.  So the battery is dying and who knows how long the FPV will function even if I get an external battery charger.

Question: are there any other cams that are compatible with the Iris/Tarot setup?  I am reluctant to get another GoPro 3 or 4 since they seem to have fragile USB ports... and I don't think the 5's will work.  Plus you can get a whole new drone with camera for about what a GoPro Black costs theses days.

Did some more research and it looks like the SJ4000 cam should work.  But looks like I will need to replace the GoPro mini USB cable on the Iris with one that has a micro USB plug... also picked up one of those.  Not too bad if this works. Worth $40 to try and not waste another $400 on a GoPro paperweight.

Try the Garmin VIRB Ultra 30....im modding my tarot gp mount to handle the 1mm extra width to handle it

Looks interesting, but like the usb port on the Garmin is in a different location from the GoPro so the fixed  FPV plug on the Tarot would need to be freed up or relocated? I am going to try the cheap option SJ4000 first.  I am done with GoPro.  I know any device can suffer from port problems but from looking online seems way too common on GoPros which is absurd for such an expensive toy.  And mine has very low usage for any part on it to fail.

With my unit the USB plug is so rounded that I accidently plugged it in upside down which fried the power pins to the GoPro

Everything works just fine with my GoPro Hero3+ except I can no longer charge it from the USB port.  I have gone to using an external battery charger and have 3 batteries for it that I swap in and out.

Perhaps this has happened to other people not realizing they did it.  It only takes one time for it to damage the GoPro.

I have been using my GoPro with my IRIS for several years and have had no other issues with it.
