I thought it was about time to start a U.K group, mainly due to the time difference between us and USA, so members can discuss their issues here and hopefully get the help they require sooner? Also it possible there is someone living not far away from yourself that you could swap ideas with and get first hand help and advice with your project.

It was flying better than ever. Got it up to around 40meters, and it drifted nearly out of sight, so I tryed ''return to launch".....it dissapeared into the countryside ! :(
The gopro was on it at the time.....so there will be some good footage, IF I ever find it !
Comment by Luc van Helfteren on July 9, 2012 at 10:55am I will wait until i get my wireless telemetry sorted before I embark on that mission I think, although I purchased some APC220 units and I am becoming hesitant as to whether they will work or not. If is unclear from this thread: http://diydrones.com/forum/topics/apm-mission-planner-with-apc220-r... whether it will work with 2.6 and the latest version of planner.

Trial and error is the most common method, however its also a good idea to get a feel for what each parameter does before trying it for real, as some paramaters are dependant on one another. A good idea is to play around with arducopter sim http://jasonshort.com/ to get a feel for how the parameters effect things.

Comment by Luc van Helfteren on July 9, 2012 at 6:50am Ok, well essentially I wanted some advice on PID settings (I know this must be a very often queried topic). I am using:
My frame weighs around 1.5kg i think, but I have yet to weigh it. Is there some calculator I can use to estimate better PID settings for loiter and nav or is trial and error the best way forward?
Thanks in advance,
Luc

@ Luc, if you have any questions or want advice the best place is to ask here if you cant find anyone nearby ;-)

Comment by malcolm churn on July 8, 2012 at 3:45pm Depends on how many cell your running, but on a 3S sounds a bit high, absolute minimum is 3Volt per cell, but i would never run one that low. 3.3 Volt per cell No load is typical.
