APM2.0 mini arducopter

I built this quadcopter for indoor testing and tuning during rainy Seattle winters.

3DR APM 2.0 & 900Mhz telemetry,

4x2900KV motors with 5030x3 blade props,

6amp ESCs,

2S-1Amp lipo,

and camera with DVR.

225g w/o Telemetry and Cam, flight Time 8 minutes.

275g w/Telemetry and Cam, flight time 5.5 minutes.

  • Super responsive after tuning Rate PIDs but when fully loaded with the cam and telemetry, I notice voltage sag resulting in inconsistent altitude hold. This next winter, ill turn this into an x8 quad comfiguration with a higher amperage battery. Not much difference with the two blade props, I prefer prop adapters to prop savers so the three blade props are merely a convenient fit for these motors. I wouldn't recommend those integrated pcb frames, get some bass or balsa wood to make a frame at this scale and your components can be laid out as you need them; APM, telemetry, camera, battery alarm, and still access/connect/customize with ease. This was originally an H frame until I decided to condense it even further.
  • How does it fly? I'm toying with building one with APM, using HK's micro integrated-PCB quad and would be interested to hear how it it handles.

What are the advantages of 3 blade props vs conventional 2 blades?
