"If you have no servos, then you can plug it into the output side with JP1 in place. If you have checked the voltage is not higher than 5.25v, and you are very careful about polarity, you can plug it into the Input side or Analog side pins with JP1…"

"You can use the latest version of the firmware, assuming you've mounted your APM on vibration-isolating foam. There is a menu item in the MP firmware screen that allows you to load earlier versions of the code (but you don't need to)"
