"Just to give you even more options https://www.sparkfun.com/products/11241 $24 Single cell LiPo adapter to provide 3.3 and 5 volts from a single 3.7 volt cell. also acts as a charger! Being you said your project is 3.3 and 5 volt, seems like a good…"

"The reason why I was bashing connecting the GPS to the battery is that they are known to be easily interfered with by electrical noise. So if you power a servo or anything else from that same battery, then likely you would have problems with the GPS…"

"So the adapter can accept 7.4V. This is what I wanted. Could have been done in a less offensive manner, but anyway thanks for your help Vernon. Thanks again for your help Jake. "

"Be nice Vernon. It's not helpful to question why he want's to use a certain power supply, and I can think of many reasons. Don't berate him with the "it's open source" BS either.  The documentation is crap and they…"

Vernon Barry replied to Ahmad Alamri's discussion MediaTek MT3329's basic adapter.
"Again. MT is is the bare mediatek module in the schematic. You only need 4 wires from the arduino pro to the bare media tek module. 3.3 power to VCC pin1, Ground on pins 3 and 8, and the TX, RX  IO on 9 and 10. That said, some research by…"

"Ok, so in an attempt to help, I grabbed the schematic from the product page in the store, opened it with free eagle cad, exported as a png attached. My take on this it, why bother with the carrier at all? You have 3.3 volts, it basically describes…"

Ahmad Alamri replied to Ahmad Alamri's discussion MediaTek MT3329's basic adapter.
"Rather than going into an endless argument, I will just answer the questions. My system's components use 3.3V and they all have voltage regulators that regulates 7.4V to this standard. and Even the GPS uses 3.3V as a standard but only the…"

"Sorry, missed the edit time window. I'm trying to come up with logical scenarios of a real need to power the GPS module directly from a LiPo and cannot think of any. Maybe you do have that unique one and so please share it as it must be…"

Vernon Barry replied to Ahmad Alamri's discussion MediaTek MT3329's basic adapter.
"While I understand the argument, what doesn't make sense is that there is no explanation of the interface. In other words, why would you care what voltage the module can accept when you MUST interface it to something else. You intend to power…"

"So, how can I know how much voltage does it accept !? I think they should be more specific if they want to sell those components or at least provide proper support. However, thanks for your help jake. "

Jake Stew replied to Ahmad Alamri's discussion MediaTek MT3329's basic adapter.
"That adapter is for a 5V power supply.  You need to power it with 5V. Looking at the eagle file the regulator is not properly specified and they're using their own made up component library.  The max voltage could be anywhere from…"

MediaTek MT3329's basic adapter.

I have a question regarding the basic adapter that comes with the MT3329 GPS. It does mention that the adapter accepts 5V as an operating voltage while the GPS could accept 3.2V to 5V. My question is: what is the maximum voltage that can be supplied through the adapter as it has a…See More
