In terms of propellers for drones, i've always debated and now comes time to decide how many blades i should have on my Drone's prop?and as a combination because i'm sure it matters to a certain…Continue

"Andy, One of the first things that pops into mind is why do you need antenna coverage if your going full autonomous?  That aside, there is a way to get some very good range with off the shelf stuff. Like putting multiple flat panels…"

Michael Pursifull replied to Andy Creighton's discussion 2-Blade Prop. vs 3-Blade Prop and which motor for 98" reaper drone by ProJet
"Go with the largest, slowest turning prop your motor can spin. Use a two-blade prop if it gives you enough thrust. If you cannot get enough thrust, then turn it a little faster.    If that does not give you enough thrust, you might have to…"

In terms of propellers for drones, i've always debated and now comes time to decide how many blades i should have on my Drone's prop?and as a combination because i'm sure it matters to a certain extent, which motors are you guys using for the Projet reaper? Im thinking brushless definitely. And it must be powerful enough to handle heavy winds/ a heavy drone.See More

98" ProJet MQ-9 Reaper -- antennas for fully autonomous long-range missions?

Hey everybody, amazing replies and advice i've received so far, you guys are the best!..    So I'm in the process of planning out my setup in terms of radio coverage. Now, I live in the San Francisco bay area and plan on being able to fly above pretty much anywhere within the rational areas(aka: obviously i will not be flying at a low altitude behind hazards like cliffs and things). So assuming i'm practical about where and how high i can fly missions, which would be the best set up? I'm…See More

Toby Mills replied to Andy Creighton's discussion 2500MM RC drone -- What's the absolute furthest it can go with legal powerful antennas? (and which ones!)
"There is no such thing as a powerful antenna. Only antenna gain. The higher the gain the narrower the field of operation but the further it will travel. Think of it like a candle. All the light from a candle spreads o equally in all directions but…"

So I am contemplating going in on the construction and what not of a new 2500mm drone from nitroplanes.com My question is simple...   considering the volume of usable storage space and antenna manipulation possible on this plane, what is the absolute most powerful antenna i could put on the drone and what is the absolute furthest i can operate my RC drone from. Assume you have a high budget if the distance and performance are reviewed as impeccable.. This is it:…See More

I am interested in anything exciting, aka 'this aint no piano recital'
Tell us a bit about your UAV interest
I am interested in building a UAV that has capabilities similar to those of a real UAV. With tracking, GPS, AutoPilot, stability control. circle mode, with capabilities of reaching high altitudes with the ability to still use camera/tracking technology. my bad terminology can explain my reasons for coming to this site.
