I'm flying a fairly stock 3DR quad, I had my first tree encounter. Too much time in simulator, and didn't uncheck the Simple mode checkbox so I I lost orientation... punched RTL but she clipped a…Continue

My 3DR quad is using FrSky radio gear with a heavily modd'ed Turnigy 9x + er9x.  From everything that I've read this should mitigate the notorious and thread-inflating flyaway issues of the stock…Continue

Made the upgrade to Window 8 Pro this weekend.  All things considered I have noticed a good speed increase over Windows 7.  No major issues except when I plugged my quad into the USB port Mission…Continue

After numerous bench tests, re calibrations, and more bench tests I was finally brave enough to take my 3DR quad out for it's first flight -albeit tethered.  I did some initial outdoor ground testing…Continue

Stock 3DR Quad + 850k Motors + 10x45 props

I'm flying a fairly stock 3DR quad, I had my first tree encounter. Too much time in simulator, and didn't uncheck the Simple mode checkbox so I I lost orientation... punched RTL but she clipped a tree branch on her way home.Anyways, it appears the stock 10x47 props that come with the quad kit are extremely hard to find, don't come in many colors, and are expensive.... so I switched to 10x 45's now I've got some awesome bright green props on the front of my coptor BUT ever since making the…See More

My 3DR quad is using FrSky radio gear with a heavily modd'ed Turnigy 9x + er9x.  From everything that I've read this should mitigate the notorious and thread-inflating flyaway issues of the stock T9x.  That said my first "close-by" flights have gone off without a hitch and I'm ready to fly higher and farther away.  In preparation:I configured my TX to emit a pwm of 950 when throttle stick all the way down. For er9x loaded TX's:Connect the APM to Mission Planner and open open Actions Tab->Raw…See More

First 3DR Quad Tethered Flight to Correct Leaning

After numerous bench tests, re calibrations, and more bench tests I was finally brave enough to take my 3DR quad out for it's first flight -albeit tethered.  I did some initial outdoor ground testing in which I brought the throttle up to the point of takeoff but noticed that the quad was showing a tendency of tilting forward and right so I killed the throttle, ran…
