LSM303DLHC Magnetometer Help! POLOLU IMU

Hello All,I have been working on an propeller based autopilot for a while now, and things have been coming along great. Although I was nervous about the lack of interrupts, the faster speed and multiple cogs have made timing the program efficient. I purchased the Pololu brand IMU v2 for $50, and my only complaint might be that the board is TOO small. I am implementing a complementary filter to filter all vibration noise, and it seems to be working just fine. I am able to set the attitude of the…See More

"If you go to my instructables page, I explain how to run a brushless motor motor with an arduino. The controller looks at the angle the arm is hanging at using our accelerometer and gyroscope, and uses that data to determine how much current to…"

"Start building up your code! I would start testing your electronics on a breadboard. Make sure you can provide all sensor data to the arduino mini pro. Make sure you can use your arduino to arm all ESCs and to control the speed of all four motors.…"

Brett Smith replied to Paul Triantafyllou's discussion How Can I Remove Vibration Noise From My Accelerometer?
"I tried to get a grasp of the Kalman filter, but it quickly became too complicated. I looked into a DCM; it seems doable on an arduino board, but I still don't have my head around it. Good news is: I set up a very basic complementary filter…"

Brett Smith replied to Dronez's discussion 6-7 Hour Flight time over ocean - some questions
"True. If your only looking looking for a 6-7 hour flght (still very long) you could probably loose some of the gas tank in order to free up space for cameras gimbles and other bells and whistles. I guess the TAM proves that extremely long sustained…"

Brett Smith replied to Dronez's discussion 6-7 Hour Flight time over ocean - some questions
"Well, obviously the TAM could handle the wind.  I assume a good comparison would be regular RC model aircraft. They can fly in the wind, but is not ideal. Obviously, wind will knock around the plane, but the PID should be able to…"

Brett Smith replied to Dronez's discussion 6-7 Hour Flight time over ocean - some questions
"The dynaflite has the same wing loading as a thermal airplane before adding any of our autopilot electronics/extra gas tank. It is only three channels - throttle, rudder, elevator. You could modify it with ailerons. I guess you only really need one…"

Tell us a bit about your UAV interest
My father and I fly rc. This winter I picked up my first Arduino microcontroller and took my first c/c++ course. I am trying to make the transition to autonomous flight, and I am currently working my first PID controller using I2C sensors and a brushless motor to hold a swinging arm level.
