Some other mission planners have a feature to drag out a square/rectangle on the map and have the planning software automatically generate strips of waypoints to cover that entire area, particularly useful for aerial photography. This took me a while to find so maybe you will find it useful! I needed a camera that had a built in intervalometer, gps, and better than 10 megapixel. The Ricoh G700SE (12.1mp) + GPS module is looking like my best option. It is ruggedized and can take a picture automatically every 5 seconds which should suite my photomapping needs.
