This took me a while to find so maybe you will find it useful! I needed a camera that had a built in intervalometer, gps, and better than 10 megapixel. The Ricoh G700SE (12.1mp) + GPS module is…Continue

"The easiest and one of the best ways to take a series of photos from a plane is hands down CHDK. If you get a CHDK enabled camera with GPS then you'll be all set. SX230 HS works, SX260 HS may also work but only recently has had CHDK released in…"

Automatic Waypoint Grid Generator for Aerial photography

Some other mission planners have a feature to drag out a square/rectangle on the map and have the planning software automatically generate strips of waypoints to cover that entire area, particularly useful for aerial photography. Closest thing I could find in the current Mission Planner software was the Grid feature which allows you to draw a polygon one waypoint at a time. Did I overlook a similar feature in Mission Planner? Any Ideas? Similar to the Create Waypoint Circle feature.Update: See…See More

Perfect Aerial Photography Camera

This took me a while to find so maybe you will find it useful! I needed a camera that had a built in intervalometer, gps, and better than 10 megapixel. The Ricoh G700SE (12.1mp) + GPS module is looking like my best option. It is ruggedized and can take a picture automatically every 5 seconds which should suite my photomapping needs. The best thing is with the GPS module it writes the location information directly to the EXIF header! Dont have one yet, will report back with more details if/when…See More

Questions regarding Photomapping

I am interested in building a rig capable of taking mid-high resolution aerial photos linked to gps information. I am a competent RC pilot but need help with a few aspects of designing this type of system. I plan to purchase an Ardupilot Mega package soon, I think it can handle all of my requirements. It is likely I will have a fairly robust budget for this project. What I need help with really is incorporating the camera into the equation... *What is the best way to take a series of photos and…See More
