Hi All,I'm running the APM2.5+ with Arducopter 2.9My Radio is a Spektrum DX8.All of the radio calibration went fine, but I noticed at the time of calibration that the throttle 'green bar' would…Continue

HEAVY Landing, now only a green light on APM Board

Well this has probably been discussed before, but, my searching unveiled nothing. The Basics:Flying at sunset, temperature 12degC, no windAPM2.5+ with 2.9.1bY6 running Turnigy 950kv Motors & ESC, 4S Batteries. This frame had done around 50 minutes of flawless flight testing inside and out, very stable, very powerful, no dramas... till tonight, I sent it up for some photos of the sunset, and I noticed the props started to sound a bit off, when attempting to descend the frame seemed very…See More

"The main advantage was less wiring add I only needed one pair of power distribution wires up each arm rather than two lots of the from the esc. Also it put them right in the down Draft of the props to keep Em cool."

"As a sidenote, I'm intrigued by your design.   The x8 I can understand, but I see you have all the ESC's out on the pods as well. Was there a reason you put them there, rather than inboard, near the centre of gravity/balance? I only…"

"I think I found the problem. New Zealand has a rather magnetic high declination at 24.5deg. I had left the apm to auto configure the declination using gps... this failed though and set my declination to 0.405! I think perhaps the copter failing…"

"My advise would be build a cheap quad with the most basic kk flight controller. Get Very good at flying first before you sink any time or money into a large AP platform. Many people assume flying is easy, based on ardrone or similar experiences.…"

"So the issue here is that your THR_MIN is too low.  When armed in stabilize mode and throttle is above zero, the motors should never stop spinning.  The default is 130 so perhaps you should try increasing it to 140 or 150. …"

Maybe this is nothing to worry about... Octocopter RPM anomaly under zero load

So I have 2.9.1 on an APM2.5+ and have been doing some bench testing without props.A striking anomaly occurs at low rpm/throttle, it may also happen at high rpm but isn't as clear. If I put the stick up just enough to start all the motors spinning. Motors 1 5 7 start to speed up as 8 4 2 slow down, for those not in the loop of the motor order those sets are all side by side motors, separated by 3 and 6, which appear to maintain constant RPM.If the throttle is low enough 8 4 2 slow down so much…See More

"Best to check your compass offsets.  I'll bet they're big (-150 ~ 150 is the acceptable range although a little bigger is ok).  They get big normally because you've got a lot of interference coming from the motors so the…"

"David,      I think that might have been a coincidence that the circles stopped.  Circles in loiter mode are most commonly caused by the compass values being off which leads to the copter constantly aiming slightly left or…"
