"Simple mode is selected from where you set up the modes.  If you use mission planner, got to firmware>APM setup> you can see a modes tab that allows you to select which switcc position activates which modes.  most modes can have…"

"There's surely nothing in the code or to do with APM that could make an ESC smoke? Sounds like dud ESC's (chinese imports, hobbywing, turnigy?) coincidentally installed on the third arm."

"Yes, the first way you described.  I'd drive my 12v (indicator type) piezo siren from one of the outputs on the IC. But to have this work we'd need to make it configurable in the mission planner. eg this would make sense for my…"

Aerial photography, trigger relay when waypoint reached.

Just want to throw this one in there for thought, would it be possible to add an option to trigger the relay when a waypoint is reached and the copter is flying level? In other words, i would like to trigger my camera to take a snapshot when it hits the desired 3d location, then move on?  This would be so useful for aerial mapping etc and really simple to implement.I am rigging up a heavy lift with  canon using chdk and could do so manually but it would be amazing to be able to program a desired…See More
