"I don't think it's all that unusual to be a bit difficult to maintain a constant altitude in stabilize mode. Especially when your only a few feet off the ground. Most people including me use alt hold a LOT.  And speaking of alt…"

"Sensitive throttle: Throttle RATE P might need to be lowered. Drifting to right. Your CoG is off, your need to recalibrate your gyros or you need to check for any misaligned motor arms/mounts."

"Tom, I just did a test flight logging my RAW data. My z-axis values look quite good, I think. From 6053 samples, 43% are within -10 (from -10.00 to -10.99), 48% are within -9 (from -9.00 to -9.99), 3% are within -8  (from -8.00 to…"

"Claudio This makes more sense! The stock PIDs will just get you airborne. You will need to set them up for your particular aircraft. run through the setup (link that I gave) and it will get you closer to where you want to be (stable flight with no…"

"Tom and Olivier, thanks for the replys. Tom, I'm still in Stabilize mode. I'll log the acc values and check them, I'll post them here later. I did try to add some vibration damping to APM, but maybe is not enough, or I need…"

"Hi Claudio. It is normal to adjust throttle permanently when you are using stabilize mode. You need to use Alt-Hold mode to get altitude stabilisation. Be carefull, the APM 1.4 do not have the same barometric performance as the APM 2.5. So you…"

How to power the receiver

Hello guys. I'm at the final stages of building my very first quadcopter! Very exciting times, my friends!I have just a few questions, I do not have a power distribution board, so I'm powering the APM 1.4 using one of my ESCs, disconnecting the + wire from the other three.I just got my Turnigy 9x 8ch receiver (first one, so not the best, but good for starting my quadrotor life). I plugged channels 1,2,3,4 and 6 to the APM.First, every channel has 3 wires, signal, + and -. The receiver can draw…See More

Hello guys. This is my first post here, hope someone can help me.I don't know if his is the best place to ask this, but let me try.I'm building a quadcopter as a pre-final project, 7th semester (of 10). I'm a little bit confused with PWN speeds to control an ESC.Using an Arduino (mbed in my canse) to generate de PWN to control the ESC, I read that 50Hz was the common frequency for ESCs, then a read about ~400-500Hz, but just for some ESCs, and then I read about custom firmwares for…See More
