I took my quad out this morning to try various flight modes. Alt hold was perfect (more or less without sonar), but when i swapped back to stablise I lost all throttle control and it went off on its…Continue

Hey all,I received my APM case last week, dismantled my quad, put the case in and rebuilt it and it works a treat. Makes everything just seem cleaner and safer - and considering what i'm trying to…Continue

Hey all,My quad's been running pretty well so I took my quad out this evening for a spin to see how it would handle a moderately gusty day (20-30km/h winds). I have to say that it was almost…Continue

Richard Collmann said… Hi David
I've asked my students to also participate in this very useful group. It is close to xmas now, but I hope they will become involved with your group before semester 1 in 2013. I hope you have seen the YouTube N7project footage. I have been very pleased with what they have done with what was only a bare concept in late-2011.
Thanks, Richard

Geoffrey A Whatley said… Hi Dave,
Don't know whether you got my message yesterday re APM problem setting up, have spent hours on the "B" system, don't know where I going wrong the problem is in the setup with the 3 position control switch set on manual the motor will run, on Stab mode motor slows on RTL motor stops, in fail safe settings I note that manual setting "radio in "channel 3 there is a full set of green bars, "servo/motor out" the same for manual, less on stab. mode and none on RTL. Channel 8 " radio in" a full set of bars on all switch settings, nothing on "servo/motor out" regardless of switch setting, hope you can point me in the right direction Regards Geoff.
Geoffrey A Whatley said… Hi David, Thanks for the reply,Firstly I gather you mean tick the check box
in fail safe nothing changes if it's ticked or not, don't understand what
you mean by TX responses are correct under Radio Calibtation and I only have
switch set fo RTL, Stabalise and Manual, have been having another problem
today, Picture but no GPS, push reset button, it trys to reboot, then comes
up with a message Waiting for MAULINK HEARTBEAT. sorry to be such a pain
Regards Geoff.

I'm flying a 6X Naza-M F550 frame with a view to moving towards a heavy lift build and a CASA commercial certificate for cinematography. Very much like to meet up with some local pilots to discuss techniques and build options etc. Notice there is a Melbourne group meeting periodically...

So I've been toying with a number of devices that will act as a great low cost GPS Tracker that I could place on any UAV. The key points for me were that it was lightweight, battery independent of the UAV, robust enough to survive a hard landing [read crash] and give you the location when you wanted…

Hey all,
With the recent comments on the latest arducopter build and some hesitation to upgrade, I decided to head out and put it through its' paces. Or in layman's speak, thrash the quad and see what happens. The day was beautiful and sunny, with a moderate breeze of 30km/h.
I flipped through stabilise, altitude hold and loiter with no problems. Handling was a…
