I would love to know what you think the best (ground) controller is.I currently have a Taranis D9 (not plus), and it is great, though I am not 100% confident as I had a couple of DJI flyaways/crashes…Continue

If price was no object, how would you build your Octocopter?

Started this discussion. Last reply by Datta Groover Oct 9, 2015. 2 Replies

Let's say your only limitation was that it had to be 4 feet of less in diameter. If you could get anything you wanted, without considering cost. The objective would be the most stable, secure, and…Continue

Octocopters on the horizon

Anyone know what Octocopters are on the way to carry a full-sized DSLR?  I know the DJI S1000+ and the 3DR X8+, but I want to know if there is anything on the horizon from these or other companies.I…Continue

"Eric, it's a bit of a pain.  The main things are to make sure the motion of the gimbal in operation won't contact the (rather stiff) cables, and the other thing is to make sure the cables aren't making the gimbal tilt.…"

"Thanks.  I've had phantoms fly away even when there was no signal loss, and once when I had partial control.  I always carefully test to make sure the RTH works.  I'm 98% sure it was a Phantom issue, and DJI, to their…"

I would love to know what you think the best (ground) controller is.I currently have a Taranis D9 (not plus), and it is great, though I am not 100% confident as I had a couple of DJI flyaways/crashes while using it -  which could have been nothing to do with the controller. My Solo controller is flawless, and I was easily able to put an extended antenna on it (unlike the D9), but that is obviously just for the Solo.I am starting to build a Naza based Hexacopter, and want to know the best…See More

"What is the take off weight for your tarot? Would that build work with 4s batteries or would it be way underpowered?"

"Hey Rob. have you compared SunnySky motors to the iPowers? I hear good things about both. I am saving up to get the X8 kit myself, pretty much exactly as you suggest."

"Thanks for that.  Great info.  Hopefully by the time I'm ready for the gimbal, there will be some breakthroughs (either in pricing of DJI's or Movi's or better software for the iFlight)."

"The gimbal is an Aura 2.  The radio is a FrSky Taranis.   The 5D is actually a pretty heavy camera.  It would perform even better with a lighter camera.  Tuning the gimbal takes some time."
