Garmin GPS For APM?

A friend of mine gave me a module for GPS that is made by Garmin, it is a GPS15L-W and he uses it in radio equipment. From the manual it looks like it can output NMEA data, I have it wired up but am not getting any data and have tried several Serial1.begin baud rate settings, to no avail. Is this module going to work or is too much to bother with?  It looks like the NMEA support is there in APM, but it is a bit lacking.See More
