"Hardest part is getting the smoke back in :)  I once washed a GPS/compass in washing machine with my pants, I took it out of the case and dried it immediately in a warm oven, surprisingly it works just fine, but it wasn't powered on. …"

Dean Miller replied to John G.'s discussion Whats the max amount of waypoints for APM and Pixhawk?
"Thanks josh, I too found some answers with more Googling, it has also been on an issue list here for quite awhile.  For a long time I didn't know what to search for because I had no idea why my EEPROM was erased…"

Dean Miller replied to John G.'s discussion Whats the max amount of waypoints for APM and Pixhawk?
"Wow, I can't believe there are no answers to this seemingly simple question.  I have corrupted my EEPROM twice now when uploading large missions, it really sucks as you have to setup your copter all over again (if you didn't save your…"

Dean Miller replied to Edgar Scott's discussion Failure: Bad GPS Pos in the group ArduCopter User Group
"There is a battery attached to the underside of the GPS board, inside the housing.  This battery should last many years and will not affect your position error anyway.  A dead battery will only affect satellite acquisition times (a lot).…"

Frank Olaf Sem-Jacobsen replied to Dean Miller's discussion Channel 6 PID Tuning Problem
"7 This is probably a bit late, but a great find. Just experienced the same problems when trying to tune my APM 2.5 with the 3.1.3 firmware. The minimum and maximum limits of the tuning knob had no effect until I disabled the outputs to the role and…"

"Any resolution on this issue? I seem to be having the same problems and accel re-calibration did not help."

Dean Miller replied to James's discussion Iris loses altitude in Alt Hold mode in the group IRIS
"Finally got  bit of flying in and noticed that when in alt hold moving forward or left/right results in an immediate drop, however when moving backwards it rises.  When I let go of the sticks it slowly returns to target altitude. …"

Dean Miller replied to James's discussion Iris loses altitude in Alt Hold mode in the group IRIS
"Sounds like a few of us are having a similar problem.  Although this is not an Iris I just got my APM (v 3.1.2) equipped Aquacopter (vented hull) up and flying and Alt hold works decent sitting still but with some up and down bobbing. When I…"

Dean Miller replied to Bertrand Duchiron's discussion Answer : Do I need a SFOC even if I help someone for free ? in the group Canada
"Wow, that cow is going to be a long ways away after the 2-3 months I hear its taking to process SFOC's and if everybody adheres strictly to the rules the waiting time is going to be way longer.  Don't get me wrong, I know we need…"

Dean Miller replied to Randy's discussion ArduCopter-3.1 released!
"Nice video, like a good movie but with a sad ending cause the hero dies.  What camera is that? Looks better than a GoPro.  More importantly what kind of speed controllers are (were) you using?"

Dean Miller replied to Edgar Scott's discussion Failure: Bad GPS Pos in the group ArduCopter User Group
"Hey Edgar, I live in an area surrounded by mountains so I have a hard time getting enough satellites to give a good HDOP, I usually fly with a HDOP of 1.8 to 2.4, I changed the GPS_HDOP_GOOD value in the full parameter list to 2.5 (so it will pass…"

Dean Miller replied to Randy's discussion ArduCopter-3.1 released!
"Awesome tip, I will try dipping a GPS/compass unit in it and try it out on my Ardu-Aquacopter, would have thought that paint would damage the board but hey, it worked for you.  Now just have to wait for my antenna stand to get here from…"
