Hi Dean,

I just read your post about the quad flipping.  I'm also new to UAVs and have been planning a quad based on the X525 frame.  Could you tell me a little bit about your experiences with the configuration you posted there?  Do all the parts work well together?  Was any other hardware required for assembly?  Did you purchase anything else from HobbyKing for this project?

Thanks,

Ray

Hi Ray,

Sorry for my lack of response, to be honest I just noticed your comment.

I am using the stock X525 v3 frame but I have removed the legs as they were more of a hindrance, instead I have attached some tubes of foam to each of the arms with some cable ties, which seems to work well.

I have attached a plastic food container which I purchased for under $5 from a supermarket to house my electronics. I used longer bolts through the body plates, then threaded rubber grommets over the bolts and then drilled matching holes in the plastic container and one each side for the ESC wires.

I am a complete novice but it all seams to work well, I get 8-9 minutes of flight time from a 3S battery and have managed to get Stabilise and Loiter commands to work

Once again apologies for my lack of response
