Any Arducopter folks in NJ?

Started Aug 31, 2012 0 Replies

So I have my Arducopter APM1 all together.  It works but the flights seem to be a little buggy.  I'm not a very experienced pilot so I'm not sure if it's a problem with my skills, tuning, wind, bad…Continue

Any Arducopter folks in NJ?

So I have my Arducopter APM1 all together.  It works but the flights seem to be a little buggy.  I'm not a very experienced pilot so I'm not sure if it's a problem with my skills, tuning, wind, bad parts, etc.  I'm hoping to meet up with someone in the central NJ area who is an experienced multirotor pilot to help me work out the kinks.  Anyone local care to lend a noob a hand?  -GregSee More

"I had the same problem. Same motor, same ESC. At one point there was smoke coming out of it. It's my second bad motor out of a batch of 8.  "

Servo switch wiring

I have this servo switch,  https://store.diydrones.com/ServoSwitch_V10_p/br-0007-01.htm  Can someone please elaborate on the wiring?  I think I see where the RX connection goes (S, +, -) but what about the voltage input and outputs for the controlled device?See More

"Looks like it is a bad motor.  I switched the bad motor to a different ESC; it still got hot.  Put a good motor on the ESC that the bad motor was on; no problem.  Oh well, have to order a new one."

Hot motor problem

One of my motors is getting extremely hot.  I was checking the motor direction after calibrating the ESC's and I noticed one of the motors got too hot to touch.  All of the others were ok.  It only does it when the motor is moving.  I tested the temp before arming and after arming and the motor stays cool.  But it heats up quick while running.  ESC temp for that motor feels the same as others.  Wiring looks ok.  I thought maybe it was a friction problem so I opened up the motor, but there is no…See More

"Turns out it was a bad RX or TX module.  Couldn't get them to work with servos either.  I replaced the Turnigy 9x modules with FrSky ones and no problems."

"Same answer as I gave you in your other discussion topic. You're in some funky mode in your RC transmitter, and you should use your RC manual to return to normal modes. Make sure you're not in Heli mode!"

"The FlySky is just a rebranded Turnigy 9X.  I have the er9X manual, I'm just not sure what I'm looking for."

"No idea, I'm afraid. Every RC model is different and I've never used the one you're using. You should find the answer in its manual (assuming it has one!)"

Greg replied to Greg's discussion How to change PWM values?
"No expo mode.  Heli settings are off.  Do I change them by changing the weight in the mix, subtrim in the limits, min/max in the limits, enabling extended limits and going beyond 100%...?  Sorry if this sounds trivial but I'm new…"

Chris Anderson replied to Greg's discussion How to change PWM values?
"Typically you'd change them on your transmitter side. Check to make sure you're not in some weird expo mode or have the heli settings turned on in your Tx."
