I just received the ordered X 350 Pro via RCmaster. After the ordinary compass calibration I realize, that the GPS seems to have outages i.e.some time the sats nr is > 7 .. 8 (seen in the MP) and LED on the Quad and sudenly there are 0…"
For me it's not quite clear if I can use the same special Arduino IDE as for the Ardupilot for the VR Brain Micro.
When do you plan to sell the VRX AV250 frame for an experimental quad platform for which Price range?
Thanks for your…"
"Quadpod with ArdupilotHi all,
After some longer time to find the appropriate PID Parameters, I succeded to fly the Quadpod in a smotth manner with the APM 2 with the newest Firmware 3.1. Look at the short Youtube Video which shows a…"
"Wow, thanks for all of the help Hans. Can you tell me if you used the attached schematic to wire your storm drone or the other schematic? Also, did you use the "Power Module" that came with the APM? Thanks!
At this stage with the actual PID params take off is ok. Manual control could be better (sometimes small oscillation in pitch and roll. Loiter could be better (to tune). Alt hold bad with oscillations in height (sonar range) of several…"
"Great that is great to hear Hans.
At this point, could you send me some pictures of the wiring that you are using with the storm drone and APM? I am trying to figure out how to connect everything and if any additional wiring/components are…"
"Hi Mike, yes, I can give you some advice for installing the APM on the Storm drone. The PID tuning for the APM 2 is not yet optimum for manual control and alt hold. I hope for better results after the long winter period with knob tuning on the…"
Look at the QuadPod Kit from http://www.snelflight.co.uk/QuadPod.htm . I added a second platform to the QuadPod to have enough place for installing APM 2, XBee and GPS. I used the delivered Motors and ESCs for the rest. It flies with…"
With the new seperate BEC from the DiYDrone shop and placing the sonar sensor a few centimeters away from the electronic "center" the noise and observed spikes (when changing throttle) diminshed quite a lot. I am awaitung…"
Another question concerning your Matlab/Simualtion sofware. Did you determine the quadrotor model i.e. inertia values by experiments? If yes, which way? I found recently indications that someone used a so called trifilar pendulum method…"
Early retired Electrical Engineer with special interest in control applications
Please tell us a bit about your UAV interest
In the early days I programmed small roboters on wheels in Java. With the programming of the AR.Drone from Parrot I entered in the field of flying robots. For getting experiences I built the APM 1 on an extended tiny QuadPod kit from Snelflight, UK.
At this point, could you send me some pictures of the wiring that you are using with the storm drone and APM? I am trying to figure out how to connect everything and if any additional wiring/components are needed outside of what the storm drone currently has. I am particularly interested in the ESC's and how to wire the APM for power. I have read the wiring instructions and I am unsure which type of ESC's the drone uses. I am fairly confident that I can use the wiring specification for a separate power board as shown in the Wiki instructions. Also can I use the original radio controller? I have the DEVO 7 controller that came with the original set up.
Hopefully once it is up and running I can begin tuning as well. Further how well does the take off, way point, and landing work on the Storm Drone.
Wow, thanks for all of the help Hans. Can you tell me if you used the attached schematic to wire your storm drone or the other schematic? Also, did you use the "Power Module" that came with the APM? Thanks!
