I would also like to change the mediatek for a uBlox LEA-6. I have the APM2.0 with built in MTK.
How do I de-activate the mediatek, do I have to unsolder it from the board or can I leave it in?

"Chris is correct. The optical flow sensor has something like a 8x8 pixels resolution and can only be used to look for motion."

You can change motors props and batteries untill you find a solution.
