Disturbance in the Magnometer

Started this discussion. Last reply by Richard Boyhan Oct 1, 2013. 2 Replies

I have 4 motors that are causing a magnetic disturbance in the magnometer. I wanted to know if there was a way to compensate for the disturbance caused by the magnetic field of the motors. I was…Continue

"If you're compassmot returns over 30% and you want to get it down, you need to move your amp away from the magnetic source. Most people move their amp higher up on the stack on their quad frame."

"Run Compassmot. Go into your Terminal window and connect the APM. Type Setup and hit Return. Type Compassmot and hit Return. This procedure relies on you spooling up your motors to 50 - 75% for several seconds. Best and safest way is to remove all…"

Can't calibrate

I have connected the ArduPilot 2.5 to the Mission Planner on my computer using my USB cable. I have connected the ArduPilot multiple times before and I have been able to calibrate the compass, accelerometer, and radio as well. Now, when I try to calibrate the compass, it says "log does not contain enough data." The accelerometer allows me to start the calibration but it does not progress when I press a key on the keyboard or click on the button that says "Click When done." Also, I have…See More

Ardupilot not connecting to Mission Planner

I have the Ardupilot 2.5 and a Hitec Optima 6 receiver. I plugged channels 1-5 into the ardupilot's 1-5 inputs. I have the ardupilot connected to my computer using the USB cable. I have the correct port and the Baud rate at 115200. I have the firmware uploaded to the Ardupilot. I was able to get the Ardupilot (with receiver plugged in) to connect before but now I am having issues connecting to mission planner when the receiver is plugged into the inputs. Also, the connection freezes when it is…See More

"Ok, I will try arming it first. I have calibrated everything and it is ready to be armed, I just never actually armed it yet. I just wanted to make sure that I would get a valid signal before I connected the motors. I was using a Servo because I…"

"The APM won't drive its outputs to anything but idle until you've passed the pre-arm checks and successfully armed it.  I'm not sure why you're doing what you are but you're pretty much wasting time by connecting a…"

"Yeah, I used a separate power supply for the outputs. Although, when I connected the oscilloscope, I am still getting a 500Hz signal. "

"If I understand you correctly you are asking "how" the conversion takes place? OR are you asking for the exact spot in the code that conversion takes place?"

"Are you powering the servos with a alternate BEC? The APM cannot support the amp draw required by the servos."
