RTF 3DR Hex Falls from Sky in Loiter Mode on Maiden Flight

So, today we attempted a first flight for out newly received RTF Hex from 3DR. We went through the setup manual and got everything attached and ready. Initial take off in Stabilize was flawless. The problem comes in after switching into Loiter mode approx 10-15 feet off the ground. The first few seconds were decent with a slight GPS drift, but not out of the norm. After about 20 seconds, it plummets to the ground. Luckily there was no damage. I went back and looked at the tlog and my guess…See More

Parachute Recovery command for Waypoints

I have been thinking about using a parachute recovery in an upcoming uav, however my concern with APM is that it will not cut the motor off unless I do it manually according to what I have read. However, my experience with the "Land" command, is that it does cut the motor of the airplane and glides it down on its last set heading. My concern is that should I opt for a parachute, I want to make sure the motor cuts off before the parachute deploys so I dont cut any lines.  My question is probably…See More
