I am looking for a radio transmitter and receiver for my APM 2.5 on my quadcopter. I am considering the Turnigy 9xr (8 channels) but am capable of spending a little more. Are the higher priced radios…Continue

I have the APM 2.5 with the 3DR quadcopter. I don't have a radio control for it; only telemetry with my ground station. Everything seems to be working and when I turn up the throttle the motors spin…Continue

What Xbee to get

Hey so I hope I'm posting this in the right place. I was just given an arducopter and I really don't know much about it. I have the APM2.5. Is there anything on that chip already that is some sort of…Continue

"A 9xr + the FrSky radio module is very nice (and cheap).  It works great with APM."

What radio transmitter and receiver to get?

I am looking for a radio transmitter and receiver for my APM 2.5 on my quadcopter. I am considering the Turnigy 9xr (8 channels) but am capable of spending a little more. Are the higher priced radios actually worth it? Also, there doesn't seem to be much documentation on receivers. How do I know what receivers will work with my radio and my APM chip?See More

"Do not do a first flight without RC control.  You can calibrate with mavlink but first flight without RC is rather dangerous and if you have little mis-configuration, your copter will fly away, flip, start a fire or just crash.  If you are…"

"I agree you need to add and learn to actually fly your craft with a dedicated RC system. That said, simply swap the any two wires leading to a motor to reverse it. "

"You really need to get an RC hookup for safety. When things go wrong, you got to be able to fly manually. Trust me, things will go wrong. Have fun, fly safe. Richard"

All motors spin the same way

I have the APM 2.5 with the 3DR quadcopter. I don't have a radio control for it; only telemetry with my ground station. Everything seems to be working and when I turn up the throttle the motors spin faster but they all spin clockwise and it can't get off the ground. How do I make the two pusher propellers spin counter-clockwise? I have never calibrated my ESCs before because I don't have a radio so I'm not sure how. However as far as I understand, all the calibration does is synchronizes the…See More
