Bill Sorry, didn't see the entire thread. As you mentioned, the coaxial should give good intrinsic stability, so could be a good platform for just steering. I would still look at payload....but might work fine as long as no additional batteries are…

Well just suggesting you make sure it can handle the payload. I don't know your skill level, but some people go with something like a CX2 coaxial to get a feel for helis, then go to a larger bird. But if you can do both with the Lama, good solution…

Abdulrahman I forget the details of the Lama. I have a CX2 and it does not have enough lift to carry the UDB and associated components. My TREX 450 does and I have the DB installed on it. You may want to check payload. Best, John

Thanks Brian I have been using Bill's UDB with the Red Board gryros swapped out with ADXRS610 gyros for less vibration sensitive versions and with 300 deg/sec max rates (Green was only 75 I think) on my TREX 450. Works OK but I think I still see vi…

Great thank you...do you have a picture of the potted board? John

Can you give more details of the gel potting you did? John

Brian Have you used your PICpilot on a heli? If so can you give me the link? Thanks John

Justin, Another approach is to build a "shield" board, such as what Rana has done, or an "oil-pan" board, such as what Dedadz has done. If you are interested in either of those approaches, I suggest you contact Rana or Dedadz through the uavdevboar…

Hi Bill, I looked at Ben's solution. It looks like it's basically using the spare I/O pins for PWM signal input and output and relying on a receiver for powering the additional 3 servos. Since I'm looking for a solution that doesn't need the recei…

Hey Marc, That's cool we share a similar vision. My first goal was to reproduce John's results and then do some incremental development. At this point, the goal I want to shoot for is to have the heli send telemetry data back to a PC and have the…

Hi John. I am aware of this. I should have a custom redboard with other gyros just because of this, but a slight mishap led to that the board disappeared. I am now desepratley searching for a greenboard, or a redboard without gyros, perhaps from Sp…

Marc Justin is using the Green Board and I am using the Red/Green Board....both of which have gyros less sensitive to vibration than the Red Board. Even these show evidence of gyro saturation at certain throtte settings. We are working to isolate t…

I just realized the existence of uavdevboard on googlegroups... It is almost scary to see how close to my vision this project is going... Daugterboard, communication channel, scripting language for ground station, camera pointing... Everything is th…

Hi Justin. Congratulations to the successful flight! That looks really promising. I have been sitting on the sideline for a while now, awaiting results regarding the redboard and working gyros, so I have no project of myself to showcase yet. I can…

Justin, It is possible to get 5 Rx inputs and 6 servo outputs from the dev board. I suggest you join the uavdevboard group, and contact Ben Levitt, for more information. Bill

Nice work Justin The GPS resolution is simply not sufficient to keep a lock on hover. Airplanes get good velocity into since they are moving at a brisk rate....a big difference with helis in hover. I don't know of a GPS/magnetometer combo. I was lo…
