"Ghislain-- Be very careful about shorts. It's a close fit, which becomes impossible to manage if you have soldered on the other USART pins. Since I hadn't soldered on the pins, I was able to get in there and apply a tiny bit of twisting…"

"This is absolutely not what lilvinz would recommend, but here's how i did it: I just had to cut back the 5th and 6th header pins, which you can (barely) see in the photo. Note, wire lengths cannot be very long for flashing to work. It…"

"K. Finisterre's explanations are possible, but not plausible once you consider the source. "There are too many honest journalists... to chase claims made by people with a deserved reputation for carelessness and dishonesty.…"

Kenn Sebesta commented on Nick Weber's blog post My Techpod Nears Completion!
"Thanks, guys. As I'm nearing completion, the next question I have is how the bay doors and gimbal are supposed to assemble? Maybe just a photo of the bay doors open and closed, and the gimbal assembled mounted to servos would be enough."

"Where's the center of gravity on the techpod? I'm trying to finish mine up, but I can't find a figure for this."

"That system config error is because you're trying to arm the model while it is in an inherently unsafe configuration. You might have left one flight mode in manual, for instance. In order to interpret this error more informatively, check the…"

Kenn Sebesta commented on lilvinz's blog post quanton flight control
"Not sure why people would think of an alternative manufacture CC3D, or that we (Tau Labs) would design cases. This board is not produced by Tau Labs, it's produced by Quanton Gmbh. It's weird to want to force an independent manufacturer…"

"@OlivierD What's neat about autopilots right now is that they've basically become commodity products. You can design the hardware in a weekend, with an extremely good chance of success on the first try. After that, it's all about…"

"@Guy This is getting severely off-topic, but I am funded by BCI to build a bat-tracking UAS. It seems that there's a lot of us looking into UAVs for wildlife research these days. FYI, while Freedom is one of our two reference platforms, there…"

"Crap, I'm new to this forum. How can I get a message like: "This has been hashed to death, and we feel that by getting the message out about what happened that the danger of something untoward has been prevented. If a moderator can lock…"

Kenn Sebesta commented on Sandro Benigno's blog post Why FRSky CPPM signal is so disappointing. [UPDATED]
"@David, @R_Lefebvre-- Do you actually have any data to back up the claim that a 50% decrease in control rate is not noticeable for average users? I suspect that this is not correct. I would hate to encourage people to think that this is tested if…"

Kenn Sebesta commented on Sandro Benigno's blog post Why FRSky CPPM signal is so disappointing. [UPDATED]
"A see a lot of people saying "27 is only 9ms slower than 18ms. What's the difference?" I think this is exposing a certain misconception about control systems and latencies. This is not a trivial 9ms, this is an increase in latency of…"

Kenn Sebesta commented on Sandro Benigno's blog post Why FRSky CPPM signal is so disappointing. [EDITED]
"That's what our colleagues do over at ETHZ and GRASP, but while their system is way faster, it's also way heavier and way more expensive. The FrSky unit is really a wonderful little bit of hardware, it's nice to use COTS when you can."

"@R_Lefebvre As in my post, for semi-autonomous environments, for instance where there is a computer controlling the vehicle, and some kind of feedback positioning system. In our case, we have a 24-camera motion capture system, and have already…"
