Why is the FBW-B speed target constantly changing.

Sorry to blat this site with more questions but I have some time off and got lots of data from the weekends flying. In FBW-B I had large speed/power oscillations so started adjusting PIDs in the…Continue

2 Aileron channels. Has anyone got differential working properly?

Started this discussion. Last reply by Fête Mobile Mar 28. 9 Replies

I have put the 2nd aileron on a separate channel so that I can have differential (defiantly makes my plane fly better). It was working fine with the APM not connected. I have set it up with the wiki…Continue

Tweaking the airspeed indicator.

I suspect my airspeed indicator is under reading as it was consistently below the GPS groundspeed.I was trying to be cleaver and export the tlog into a spreadsheet and take averages of airspeed and…Continue

After checking the log of yesterdays flight I see that the status page wind direction varied between 260 and 310 (about 7ms). However, my observed wind and the local weather reports indicate an…Continue

Fête Mobile replied to Leo Hogg's discussion 2 Aileron channels. Has anyone got differential working properly?
"At the moment, dual aileron does not seem to work with crow/spoileron configuration in any stabilized mode.  So no, at this moment I don't think it will work.  If I can find the time I'll try to solve this problem myself, but…"

"I land on the FBW-A mode. That’s my favorite more for flying around and landing. And my Crow is on a three-position switch for I basically have two settings. Do you think it’s possible to make it work in that mode? .  "

Fête Mobile replied to Leo Hogg's discussion 2 Aileron channels. Has anyone got differential working properly?
"Hi Mike.  Were you going into crow/butterfly with stabilize mode?  I encourage you to try it again, at least on the ground, and try it in MANUAL mode.  As I said, that's the work-around to this bug.  I wish we didn't…"

Mike Mac replied to Leo Hogg's discussion 2 Aileron channels. Has anyone got differential working properly?
"I tried dual ailerons last summer but every time I activated the "CROW" switch to reduce lift for landing it would go into a hard roll. I could never figure it out. I have not tried the latest firmware with dual ailerons. It was very…"

Fête Mobile replied to Leo Hogg's discussion 2 Aileron channels. Has anyone got differential working properly?
"Hi All.  I've tried out the AP2.68 firmware.  It's really nice that the dual aileron control is in the firmware (finally) so I don't have to patch the code each time there's an update.  I've been using dual…"

"The fuselage shell was vacuum bagged around a foam core. The foam was then dug out after the fuselage lid was cut off. The wind effect was similar to the X-frame. We were considering mounting the ESCs on the inside with heatsinks to keep it…"

"I had the same problem with my quad after installing a camera gimball. I think the servos drew to much current from the power module causing the autopilot to brownout and the quad to lose control. The Vcc log showed some transient under and over…"

"Hi Leo, The case looks good, did you think about any off the shelf cases? Are you going to use your cars 12v dc socket to power the ATX , or are you using a leisure battery, and have you thought about some sort hood to block out the sunlight."

UAV Portable Base Station

Posted on January 1, 2013 at 3:30pm 11 Comments

I found that a conventional laptop computer is fragile for use in the field and decided to create my own ruggedized PC that would be suitable for use in the field and the workshop. Having upgraded my desktop, I have a spare socket AM3 motherboard. The motherboard has an integral video adapter, so will not require a bulky graphics card. To power the PC, I will use a 12 volt ATX power supply. A 19" Samsung LED LCD will be used. The screen comes with a 14.2V mains power…

UK EPP-FPV

Posted on July 12, 2012 at 3:30pm 7 Comments

Having imported and build a Hobbyking EPP-FPV aircraft, I would reccomend against UK buyers purchasing from the states since the postage and import duty was more expensive than the model itself and the quality of the kit was below what I expected. However I have assembled it and it has proven to be useful in my…
