Serial and Xbee question

Hi all,Am I right to say that if my arduino code can transmit data to the serial cable, the xbee should also be able to transmit the data? I am in the process of troubleshooting why my serial cable can receive the data but not xbee. But with arduplane the xbee works fine. I am using the 2.4Ghz Xbee pro s1 with 5V and CTS shorted on the receiving Xbee Shield.See More

"Hey thanks! Btw will removing the IMU shield affect the programming for Xbee transmission in any way? My Ardupilot is receiving data from an EM406A gps so I was wondering if i could remove the IMU shield."

"This is the image from the wiki, of the 2560 upside down.  In the top left you see TX3 and RX3, the "telemetry" port lines. Those are the two serial lines that are passed "up" to and through the IMU board and used for the…"

"Yep I have both GPS' still trying to receive GPGGA and GPRMC ;_;, want to extract the airspeed, altitude and GPS coordinates from these 2 onto a vb program"

"That does not compute. The source code for the EM-406 is probably pretty tightly controlled by its manufacturer.  It already outputs GPGGA and GPRMC, why would you think you need source code to transmit that? Do you mean that you want to…"

"Thanks Ken, btw do you happen to have a sample source code for em406 gps receiver that can transmit GPGGA and GPRMC?"

"1.The default for the (DIY Drones) MediaTek is 38,400 bits per second, not 4,800. (The EM-406 has a default of 4,800.) Now you should get data. 2. I prefer to check for availability, not read a byte and discard if -1. But yous pay your money and…"

"It might look like Jibberish, but it's actually a binary protocol. I think you're going to have quite a challenge parsing it...especially as your first protocol project.   http://qgroundcontrol.org/mavlink/start  "

Data Extraction

Hi all,If I want to extract the basic flight data like Speed, altitude, gyro and gps coordinates to my own ground station software, can I just simply flash Arduplane into my ardupilotmega? Or do I need to do some adjustment? The mission planner can display these data so I am assuming I do not have to edit the Ardupilot software to extract these data. Correct me if I'm wrong~See More
