Hi folks,I'm interested in trying to connect a Rembizi OSD to my APM. I've searched both forums and the code, but I can't find any hint that this has been implemented yet. I haven't read through the…Continue

"Stupid question maybe. But why does the data need to get added to the video stream on the airside. Why not transmit the video raw and put the osd on the output of the video receiver. Perhaps you could feed the osd data from a serial output from the…"

"Hi Blake, at the end you did a telemetry sharingor a GPS sharing? Did you create some blog/forum here to share waht you did at the end? thanks"

"It's not quite like 'T'ing into a pipe to share the data, there is a bit of 2 way communication going on with the GPS. To my understanding the advantages would be having to buy only one GPS and sharing the digital information from the…"

"Sorry to hijack the thread with a noob question - but what specific advantages are there to connecting the OSD to the APM rather than just 'T'ing the GPS to both the OSD and the APM? Artificial horizon from the Giros? Information about…"

"Thanks for all your time and efforts, mainly a hardware guy here. I know it's the glue that hold it together but all that code stuff makes my head swim."

"What would mostly help would be fixing the oilpan design so that it didn't require two serial ports, two SPI ports, I2C and a bunch of GPIOs. That's a fairly major undertaking, however, and would lead to many other issues. In the meantime,…"

"The DIYDrones custom firmware message does not include msToW; it gives hours/minutes/seconds for the current day only. If you're running a MTK in their standard NMEA/NMEA-like mode, you still only get hours/minutes/seconds/fractional seconds…"

"@Michael Smith, I seem to have gotten TOW just fine last night from the MTK GPS.....when hooked up to arduIMU 181. I believe it was in the realm of 43000 seconds. Am i mistaken?"

"Hmmm, that makes sense. I wonder if I could use the sparkfun usb explorer instead of the adafruit board in the air. I thought I read about someone trying that. Mark"

"The oilpan's use of port resources from APM is pretty obscene. No. The console port is hardwired exclusively to the FTDI chip."

"Please forgive me if this is naive, but is there a way that the xbee could potentially share the USB port, at least in flight mode? It doesn't seem like there's much output to USB during flight, so maybe the telemetry could be written out…"

"Some GPS units (I'm looking at you, DIYD-custom MediaTek) don't give you ToW. Also, note that the GPS autodetect code will change the baudrate multiple times as it searches for GPS units. Not sure how this will affect the Remzibi parser."
