"I gave up on the Stratosnapper. Here is a link to a video that shows everything you need to do the same thing as the Stratosnapper but using a Flytron IR trigger instead. Easier and less cost.
"I have the same problem. My "Overshoot" field is also set to 0.
If you reduce overlap you also reduce the quality of the results.Pix 4D recommends 70% overlap (as does most other photogrammetry software).
Please explain how to…"
"Daniel: I have to agree with the others. This is one of the best "How To's" posted on this entire site. Very precise. Much appreciated.
Can Mission Planner be substituted for Tower to plan and push the mission to the Solo? How long do…"
"RPM: Thanks for the feedback. I personally don't use Tower any more. Too many issues. It is also lacking in sophistication compared to Mission Planner. That said, 3DR's "official" stand is that neither Tower or Mission Planner…"
"I emailed and asked 3DR about Mission Planner. Their reply: NOT compatible and not supported and there is no waypoint functionality in the Solo app as in Mission Planner. That makes Solo, in my mind, just another (albeit sophisticated) flying GoPro.…"
"Ryan: awesome coverage of your process. Have you uploaded your NEX7 mount design file to a place like shapeways.com? That way we could purchase it from you...
Looking forward to seeing this continue.

I have a 3DR X8+. I purchased the Mapping package.
Is it necessary to swap out the existing Pixhawk, the radios, the compass/GPS etc for the new ones that came in the mapping package?
Thanks for the help."
"Hugues: When you set up the StratoSnapper using the GUI what do you set as the channels? The choices are Push Button, 2 Way Switch, 3 Way Switch and Stick. But since I will be having the APM control the shutter by DO_SET_CAM_TRIGG_DIST what do I set…"
"Sreve: Temporarily I will use a GoPro 3 Black because that's the only gimbal/camera combo I can use. The NEX won't be on a gimbal because I want to make sure the idea works before I drop that amount of cash for a gimbal to hold the NEX.
You will need to travel back and forth along the wall as you climb up in altitude. This way it will be a new waypoint so you can trigger a picture. You will need to add a false point at the end of every other flight line so…"
I am keenly interested in using the capabilities of UAV's for mapping, topography, and other 'survey-related' functions. I am especially wanting to learn how to do these functions in very rugged BC terrain.
