I'm having a consistent problem (confirmed by another user) that GRID V2 will not fill in the polygon with points. Instead, it only fills in the 1st 3 waypoints, then back to home.Is this a bug? FYI,…Continue

"ok, the reality is that the map is still a bit of a wreck... lots of stitching errors, but the smartblend plugin helped a lot. Im going to keep flying and experimenting with the grid and flight direction in hopes to make some maps with less errors."

"wow. Criro. Thanks for that piece of advise! I downloaded smartblend and it really cleaned up the map. And allowed me to use more pictures that originally didn't fit. Heres the map after using smartblend."

"Very nice. When you did create panorama in PTGui, which "Blend Using" did you use? PTGui? Did you try to use "Smartblend plugin"? You should obtain a better stitching."

Mapping Mission Ride Along

Posted on May 18, 2013 at 10:00pm 31 Comments

Here's my 1st mapping test flight with a Skyhunter twin-boom pusher. Im running Arduplane 2.73. Mapping camera is a Canon s95 running an intervalometer script via chdk. Its suspended from a single axis gimbal that keeps the camera pointing down regardless of aircraft bank angle. Video shot from a GoPro 3 Black Edition.

It took 120 photos during the 10 minute…

How to trigger a Canon camera through an RC transmitter

In this video, I go over how to trigger a Canon s95 camera through an rc transmitter, without taping a servo on top to push the shutter button. Canon cameras use a firmware hack called CHDK that allows shutter control through the usb port. With a simple switch from Turnigy, we can trigger the camera from the transmitter.

Testing the GoPro 2

Posted on November 22, 2011 at 6:17pm 14 Comments

Ive been doing some testing with the new GoPro2 HD video camera. I bought it out of necessity after loosing my GoPro HD in flight :( But, having the HD jump ship was a blessing in disguise, because the new GP2 boasts some impressive features.

While shooting in 1080P, you can choose 3 different field of view (fov) settings: Wide at 170, medium at 127, and narrow at 90. Heres a video I made testing the different fov settings on a Skywalker foam airplane.…
