Arducopter build from IDE

Hello, dose anyone have information on configuring Arducopter to a traditional helicopter within the Ardino IDE. I have modified APM_Config file, setting FRAME_CONFIG  to HELI_FRAME. When the helicopter is powered up after uploading the code onto Ardupilot there is unusual servo movements. I believe the code has not correctly configured Ardupilot to a traditional helicopter.Any information would be greatly appreciated.See More

"If you add separate BEC, caution if it puts out more than 5v, suspect it can make 3.3 vs. 5v serial signals from gps not work with the 5v side APM.   if it puts out only 5.0v, all should be good.   Oh I see now Montasser…"

"Simplest explanation: Governor is just like cruise control. It automatically increases and decreases torque on the motor (throttle) in order to maintain a set speed (of the rotor disk). You want this for a number of reasons. It makes the tail more…"

"So the governor is a part of the ESC, cool. have no idea if mine does that don't think it does when i flew it a few weeks ago the throttle curve was all wrong and so some serious blade stall. How does the governor control work? does it try to…"

Profile Information

About Me:
I am a Postgraduate Researcher at loughborough university in the UK. I work in the department of aernouatical and automotive engineering.

Have been flying model aircraft for about 3 years and like both fixed and rotery wing aircraft.
Tell us a bit about your UAV interest
My PhD is on UAV forced landings in clivian airspace, so to demonstrate this I need a robust relable autopilot system to interact with externally. Be it sending it commands over XBee or an onborad enbedded system.

ArduRex 450 - Setup

I work out of the Loughborough University Centre for Autonomous Systems (LUCAS), and have recently discovered the Ardupilot Mega. We are now constructing a number of vehicles with Ardupilot Mega, using it as a low level control system. Our fleet will include Flying Wings, Wot 4's, and Trex 450's. We will use these to conduct research, which will range from, UAS forced landing, UAS collaboration, autonomous soaring, to collision avoidance.

This post is the first in a…
