"Thank you for your rapid reponse! I was hoping to use just the PPM from the RX, but the RX also outputs each channel differently from the JR radio as well so I'm probably better off running individual wires for each channel as you stated.... I…"

"Andy, I'm having trouble setting up my Dragonlink to my APM 2.5 using only the PPM out of the RX which is channel 12 on the RX... I've been trying to find information on my problem and ran accross your setup which is basically the same as…"

"I'm quite sure you'll find that any attempt to do this privately and legally will be met with slammed doors.  I'ts pretty obvious what's happening to the UAV industry.  It is going to be controlled by the same players…"

"We'll get back to you on this issue, David....... I'm kidding, you make a great point, one that hadn't even crossed my mind, I will have to get with the local Sherriff's Dept. and see if I can get an answer atleast…"

"Sweet!! Sounds like what I'm looking for! Although I wouldn't start out with the camera system on it to begin with, because lets face it, I'm going to crash it more than once I'm sure!! But thank you for the info, I'll go…"

"I think I know which Super Cub it is that you have, and I think it's safe to say that it's not suitable at all for flying with an Ardupilot.  It's quite small, and by the time you add the APM, you won't have much payload…"

"Just wanted to continue this discussion...   I am currently using a Futaba 9CAP 72MHz system, with a 2.4GHz FrSky plug in module and reciever.  I also have a 900MHz Xbee.  I was planning to get video soon, and was going to get a…"

"Greetings, I've been doing SAR in the US for fifteen years and have been wanting to apply UAVs to SAR since they first became available. The problem is that without a COA they're essentially illegal. Flying one at a major incident would…"

"Yeah, that set of FPV goggles is pretty good.  One thing about 5.8 is that wavelength is the shortest of all the systems.  So it better in open areas, which no obstructions like trees or buildings blocking line of sight."

"You are right Toby, my roots are FPV, so perhaps I am biased.  You are bang on about FPV not needing telemetry at the same time as video... thats where OSD was for. For my UAV use, I am moving my vid to 1.2 so as to use the Xbees @…"

"Wow this is amazing!! And the prices aren't as bad as I was expecting either! I found the Fatshark FPV and an additional booster to take it's stock transmitter from 100mw to 600 mw. They said the 100mw had a range of 350-500mtrs so…"

"Check out the "Telemetry and FPV" section at hobbyking.com. The prices are very good, but they're low on stock recently."

"Thanks guys!! You both make great arguements!! Where could one come across a reasonably priced UAS video from the 900Mhz - 5Ghz and 5.8Ghz? Price does change things to a certain extent, I'm sure we can all agree on that."

"There's also plenty of good quality 5.8ghz video systems out there.  I'd say stay with 2.4ghz for rc control, since it's less prone to interference, which is more critical than the video link.  You can survive a few glitches…"

Toby Mills replied to Matthew Thomas's discussion Newbie wants a UAV.
"agreed yes it is my recommendation not a rule, although if you stay clear of 2.4Ghz control and go with 72Mhz control, then that gives you the option of 900Mhz, 1.2Ghz, 2Ghz or 5Ghz video links. 900Mhz would likely give you the…"

Tell us a bit about your UAV interest
Being an RC hobbiest and emergency response person when I found out about turning my RC plane into a UAV it struck me as not only cool to have one to play with but also I can use it to assist my community in the search and rescue of missing and injured people in my area.
