"It does not show up even when not plugged in now because i deleted it. Now when i plug it in, i get windows sounds for plugged in, followed by windows sounds for not plugged in, and the driver software installation windows pops up says "Device…"

"thanks for the reply. as i said i uninstalled the ftdi drivers that windows installed(which somehow worked), and i installed the win7 drivers that chris's post in this thread points to. Still nothing."

"You need to install the ftdi drivers. The drivers windows automatically installs are not what you need."
