I have a APM1.0 and when I hook it up to the APM Mission planner the vertical speed jumps all over the place and altitude moves up and down.  It just goes to random values when the board is sitting…Continue

Pelican Case for Iris+

I've been looking for a better way to protect my Iris+. Amazon recently had a daily deal on Pelican cases. When I saw the Pelican 1650 for only $150, I couldn't pass it up. I like the 1650 because I am able to fit everything in it, even though it is a little large. In my case I have:Iris+ with propellers onIris+ controller with lanyard2 batteries LiPo bag (for chargingTelemetry radioLong legs Spare PropsIris+ tool kitUSB cables (for telemetry)LiPo chargerLiPo charger power cableI'm pretty happy…See More

"I see why it doesn't damage the pi now.  Most, if not all, of the GPSs available run on 3.3 volts.  They take a 5v input and regulate it.  They are 5v tolerant on the input but output at 3.3v."

"Do you have any problems with using the 5v UART on the 3.3v only Pi?  I know that the pi gpio pins are not 5v tolerant. "

Vertical Speed and Altitude Problem

I have a APM1.0 and when I hook it up to the APM Mission planner the vertical speed jumps all over the place and altitude moves up and down.  It just goes to random values when the board is sitting still on my desk.  Does anyone have any idea what might be causing this, and if so how can I fix it?NigelSee More

I like the 1650 because I am able to fit everything in it, even though it is a little large. In my case I have:

  • Iris+ with propellers on
  • Iris+ controller with lanyard
  • 2 batteries
  • LiPo bag (for charging
  • Telemetry radio
