Hi, I read in the datasheet of the BMP085 barometer used in the APM that its sensitive to light (and probably the airflow generated by wind and props) which influences the accuracy. Was wondering if…Continue

ACM/APM Futaba T8FG (Super) Mode configuration for all 6 modes

Posted on May 24, 2011 at 3:30pm 22 Comments

The APM WIKI has a good page to describe the setup of the Radio for switching the Mode with the RC toggle switches.

However, there was no help on how to setup the T8FG. It's not rocket science, but took a bit of try and error to set it…

I have been playing with my Arducopter for a while now. Really cool stuff! It's time for a little contribution myself.

But first a really a big thank you to everybody working on this project and especially Jason for all the cool (and very stable) code he has been contributing!

I had hooked up the Battery…

Thanks for the help... My question concerns the use of channel 7 for the use of resetting the accels. I assume that one just needs to connect the channel 7 signal wire from the receiver to the apm channel 7 and then uncomment the statement "//trim_acceleration()" ? Also, "hold high" until the copter is stable... Does that mean to just hold the switch to the high calibration number side of the switch until it is stable? Thanks again for the help. Steve

Yes, just fly the copter in STABILIZE mode with the radio trims. Once its steady in the air, hold channel 7 switch high for more than 2 seconds (this is important, as otherwise it will not be saved). Then remove the radio trims again. Land the copter and disarm the motors to save the compass offsets.

That fixed it for me.

Ollie.

Ahh... This makes more sense (using the trims). I was activating channel 7 high today but was trying to hold it steady without trims... So it was always just a touch off. So, by landing and disarming you are saving the accel offsets, not a compass offset, correct? Also, does this save it permanently? Even after you disconnect the battery?
Thanks,
Steve

It saves it instantly after you let go of the switch. Just use your radio trims temporarily to achieve steady-state. That way its easier not to get a knot into your fingers :)
