I'm looking for video of people experiencing FPV (either via watching the heads up display on a laptop and/or using goggles like the FatShark). What would be even better is if that person then…Continue
"Still waiting on the funding to come through from KickStarter (they say it takes about 2 weeks) but we're making progress on several other fronts; organizing parents and defining project components that meet the needs of the kids and…"
"Joshua - Thanks for passing this along! I hadn't seen it and it's very interesting. I did some more digging on the authors of the research and intend to reach out to them. Thank you! I guess we all respond…"
"Oliver - thank you so much for posting this. Very good stuff. I haven't any experience on that front yet (just learning to fly) but I'm building a hexa soon and would like to take it to this level.
I'm curious, how are you…"
"FWIW - There is a really nice overview of FPV issues in the RCGroups.com forum for FPV with the title 'How to be successful in FPV'. Might be too beginner-ish for some but there is A LOT of good content there in a series of…"
I'm new to flying and am seeking system recommendations from experienced flyers before I purchase a system.I have a project on KickStarter for building/flying a hexarotor with kids on the autism spectrum. We've hit our financial goal so I know we'll be moving ahead! Central to what we want to do beyond just flying is GPS, flight planning/waypoints, and real-time FPV back to a laptop and possibly even glasses like the FatShark. I want…See More
"Thanks for the note Dave. I'm looking for some footage that would help people supporting my KickStarter project understand how FPV impacts people. Ideally, I'd like footage that shows people watching the video feed (either on a…"
This is fascinating. For my day job I work in Autism Care Trusts, I've even used an FPV quad to inspect their chimneys and roof!
Both carers and residents were enthralled with the gear.
I have allsorts…"
I'm looking for video of people experiencing FPV (either via watching the heads up display on a laptop and/or using goggles like the FatShark). What would be even better is if that person then comments on what it was like. Does anyone have video footage like that? I'd like to use the video in an update to my KickStarter project (Taking Autism To the Sky). The project emphasizes the use of…See More
"A local radio show on National Public Radio was doing a show on drone use int he US and the government's perspective on how to use that technology to stop terrorism. Lots of good discussion on privacy issues, limits of government,…"
"Thanks for the comments/suggestions Kevin. Good stuff. As an aside, this study just released at Washington University in St. Louis, MO is another reason why this technology is a great option for people with disabilities like…"
"As for soldering practice, buy a bunch of electrical wires (the ones with many small wires inside, not the one-piece solid ones... I forget what the english word is) and make the kids solder them together, to get a feel of how the solder sinks into…"
"Those are very interesting points Paul! Let's hope this theory of perspective can help them better grasp the world around them.
Have you ever flown FPV yourself? The experience is very interesting. The first time you realize you have control…"
I am interested in working with kids on the autism spectrum to build and fly quadrotors for several purposes; 1) as an opportunity to socialize with peers, 2) to see the world from a different perspective using mounted cameras, FPV and OSD, and 3) develop technical skills that may offer employment options down the road.
Joshua - Thanks for passing this along! I hadn't seen it and it's very interesting. I did some more digging on the authors of the research and intend to reach out to them. Thank you! I guess we all respond better when there is an intense level of engagement in the subject at hand right? I hope to leverage that same issue when working with the hexarotor and our group of kids. Purchasing equipment shortly!
