I clicked on the pick previous firmware link on the latest APM planner as I wished to reload arducopter 2.8.1 as opposed to the latest 2.9.1b.However I get the following in the drop down box, have I…Continue

Fly by wire mode

Started this discussion. Last reply by Quentin Mayberry Mar 26. 4 Replies

We have been flying an X8 flying wing for the best part of a year and it behaves really well in manual, stabilised or RTL modes. However we have noticed that it is super stable in fly by wire mode B,…Continue

Why did the quad not go to the last waypoint?

Started this discussion. Last reply by Quentin Mayberry Feb 20. 5 Replies

Can someone please tell me why the quad correctly auto took off at waypoint 1, flew correctly to waypoints 2 and 3 then just waited at 3? The HUD seemed to show it was waiting at 4, when the map…Continue

"Yes I was a Captain for Bristow Helicopters flying IFR equipped North Sea heavy helicopters (Super Puma) and also have friends that fly SAR (Search and Rescue) helicopters with even better autopilots than we had. Ours were SFIM or Honeywell-Sperry…"

Quentin Mayberry replied to Craig Elder's discussion APM Copter 2.9.1.b has been released
"Interesting but I wonder if that is entirely true, as if you are navigating from lat/long to lat/long, then being stationary is irrelevant as the track is a simple calculation and the heading can be determined after a miniscule movement i.e. 1mm. In…"

"This may be a daft question, but why do you bother with a magnetic heading when using a gps or inertial, nav as they can navigate with true bearings and not unreliable magnetic ones?"

Quentin Mayberry replied to Andrew Tridgell's discussion ArduPlane 2.72 released
"Thanks for the explanation Paul. No it doesn't look like xrf's support that. I am not sure if it is an angle thing could be, although XRF's are more versatile than xbees, we have more success with the XRF's and have stopped using…"

"Brenden, what do you mean by ECC? Is that encryption? in which case no we don't. We use XRF's at 58k on the arduplane and 115k on the quad, both with data rates of 250kbps. The quad works fine the arduplane nearly always gets errors…"

"We get the same issues Brenden, so it is not an isolated event. We have also yet to get to the bottom of why arduplane suffers with telemetry errors when arducopter doesn't seem to with waypoints. We often have issues trying to change…"
